can the left and right panels be turned up or down for ceiling and below floor lighting. ? how long can the light stay on w 18 v 4 amp battery ?
Asked by: DIY
It looks like you could mount it on a 90^ to the tripod, then you could aim the panels up and down. I'll try it when I get one!

Does this light come with a battery?
Asked by: Scott
Scott. No the light does not come with batteries. You purchase them separately. That said, know that you'll get about 2 hours of light from a 5aH battery on a full charge if you have this thing on the highest illumination setting. i recommend using a power cord if you're going to be working long hours in the night on the highest setting on this light.

Is this light covered under the lifetime service agreement that my other tools have?

Asked by: JD
It is covered by the LSA if you properly register it. I just got mine approved a week or so ago.

Discontinued?

I special ordered this light through my local Home Depot store only to be issued a refund and informed that it was discontinued (store was informed by Ridgid). Is this correct?
Asked by: TM
It is possible, after all LED technology keeps improving monthly - I would not be surprised they made a limited number of these units before designing a far more powerful and efficient panel light.

GEN5X 18-Volt Hybrid Folding Panel Light is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 100.

The lights are cool to the touch, highly durable and weather resistance, goes perfectly with the stand, highly versatile and EXCEPTIONALLY bright. It's pricier than other options but it FEELS/LOOKS professional. I originally owned a husky system which felt flimsy and looked amatuer. This product, doesn't. It's exactly what I need and was looking for in a reliable jobsite lighting option. (NOTE: if you're running a 5aH battery on this thing... expect about 2 hours of light on the highest setting. It will drain your battery quickly. My recommendation is to use a power cord if you're going to be running this thing on the highest setting and turn down the illumination when operating on battery... unless you have replacement batteries on standby or can finish the job in less than 2 hours.)

I needed a bright light over my workbench for doing projects in my home shop. A couple screws into the back wall, and this light hangs in a perfect spot. It kept me from fishing a wire and installing an outlet. Super bright and doesn't heat up like regular shop lights. You can even dim it if it's too bright! DON'T LOOK STRAIGHT AT THIS THING WHEN IT'S ON HIGH! Seriously, it hurts. 5 stars. Love it.

Just a couple of clarifications from reading other reviews. Someone gave it 4 stars because the light output isn't adjustable. Apparently that person didn't read the manual or try turning one of the only 2 knobs on the light because the light output is definitely adjustable. Also someone said it was awkward and hard to thread onto the tripod. Not the case at all. Hang onto it by the battery and screw the light into the tripod. The last thing is the availability review. Someone gave it 3 stars because it took them 10 stores to find it. Just go into your local Home Depot and have them special order it from Ridgid. I'm not talking about having it shipped to store or shipped to home from homedepot.com.....My local store called Ridgid up and special ordered it from them and Ridgid sent it right to my local Home Depot for me to pick up within a few days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A battery powered spot light I have used this light just a couple times but am thoroughly impressed. It was able to light up my backyard as well as out hard wired lights. I used it to remove the running boards on my Yukon XL and didn't have to move it other than side to side to be able to see under the whole truck. I can't wait to use it camping and it will be great in the future for working on the car.

I drove over an hour to pick this light up since it was not available in my town. It was worth the trip. I have used it almost daily since I received it. It is amazingly bright, very portable and has great adjustability. The Ridgid system has pleased me and caused me to abandon other tool systems I have used for over 25 years. I have used the light for hours on battery power without thinking about having to plug it in or switch to another battery. It ought to be stocked in every Home Depot store. I would buy it again without thought even at its price.

This light is amazing, it runs 2500 lumens and is very bright and has a total of 48 LEDs yet they have done a nice job with the fogged lens so I does no blind at you if you glance at it. Instead of having just a high and low setting for the light output it has a dimmer dial and between high and low there are 20 different levels of brightness which is very nice. with the panels folded forward it will act more like a flood light and shine light in a general area in front of it however if you flip the panels back it will become a true area light, I have the Ridgid Gen5x tripod that I use with it and would highly recommend getting to go with it. When I fold the panels back, put it on my tripod and raise it up to the ceiling it will easily light an entire room in all directions, it is even bright enough that it will light my large 2-1/2 car garage. Unlike a halogen light this will not get hot and radiate heat, there are no bulbs to burn out and it puts out a nice natural white light. I would rarely use my halogen lights but I find myself using this light constantly not just when it's dark but also in poorly lit situations or anyplace I could use a little more light because it's so convenient and easy to setup and use. I like that it is a hybrid light it is very nice to have the options to either run it on an 18 volt Ridgid battery or to plug it in. When you run it on a battery I would suggest running it on at least a 4 amp battery or a 5 amp is even better, when running it on high with one of my 5 amp batteries I will get around 2 hours of runtime. This light feels very well built and the panels feel very solid and sturdy along with the rest of the light and when your not using it the panels fold in to help protect the light in storage and during transport. It has a few different mounting options the most basic being that it can simply be set on it's base then there are screw hole mounts so you can hang it from a wall, there are some small hook in the back that you can use to hang it from some rope or wire, there is also a hole in one side of the handle that can be used to place it on a piece of rebar and then my personal favorite mounting option is the option to mount it to a tripod again I use it with the Ridgid Gen5x tripod which works excellent with the light. I would definitely recommend this light to anyone looking for a flood light and or an area light and even if you don't have Ridgid batteries I would still recommend it since you can just plug it in and it is such an excellent light and if you do have Ridgid batteries and are already running the Ridgid 18 volt platform then I would absolutely add it to your Ridgid 18 volt lineup! Also one last thing to mention is this light is eligible for the LSA Lifetime Service Agreement just remember to register it within 90 days, you can register it online at www.ridgid.com and you will need to sign in or create an account and then you will need to enter the model number, the serial number, the date you purchased it and you will also need to enter a code that will be located near the bottom of your Home Depot receipt so make sure to save your receipt because you will also need it for warranty purposes. My personal advice to make sure you don't lose the receipt is get a filing cabinet or use an existing one if you have it and create a file that includes the receipt and instruction manual for the light and file it so you always know where the information on it is at, I recommend doing this for all your power tools I know I do! Here is the link to a YouTube video review I have done showcasing this amazing light. https://youtu.be/fOj-wkyBnyM

Saw some videos of these lights but was unable to find in stored till just before Christmas (too late to put on my gifts for me list) so I just picked it up for myself. This light is a amazing. It's Bright, Up to 2,500-Lumens with variable power dial-powerful lumen output with the ability to set at variable lumen levels to match the brightness with the job It can easily fill light in a dark room or add light to an area where you some some light but need to rid yourself of shadows, etc while doing something like painting indoors. It also can be run off of either the Ridgid 18 Volt battery line (anything from those smaller 1.5 AH batteries with the smaller Ridgid kits thru the 5AH monster) and also can be plugged into a simple 110 volt drop cord. I also do photography as a hobby so also may try to see how this works out for video use. They make similar type of lights for video work that don't have the build quality this has and cost alot more..
