Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 44 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Product has great features I purchased this product because of the ridged name and the fact that I have a number of ridged power tools which are great. . . .So the choice to purchase this one was easy. . . .I had read the reviews and there was only one that I was concerned about. . . .Battery. . . .When I received the multi tool, I placed battery on charge to make sure it was fully charged. . . .I then proceeded to make several cute in some pine. . . .At 1/2 - 2/3 rd's speed, the battery lasted approx. 5 minutes. . . .What a disaster. . . .You would need 2- 3 batteries to do 10-15 minutes work. . . .Needles to say, I am returning the product for a refund. . . .I ended up using a friends 12V multi tool (not a ridgid# and had no problem completing my job with one battery #approx. 20-30 minutes of pretty continuos use). . .I was really looking forward to having and using this product . . . .Wish that someone could give me an answer to the problem and why it has not been corrected. . . . Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by There appears to be a defect with this tool, everyone has the same issues While I own about every Ridgid product and they have all performed well and held up well, this tool must have a design flaw. The tool will work ok for a bit then I'm not sure if it gets hot and shuts off or what but just stops. Like all of my 12 volt tools, the batteries don't hold up well so if you get one be sure to register it properly and when they replace your batteries under warranty, re-register them asap. The tool is handy and cuts ok but something is not right with mine and I need to ship it back to have it repaired or replaced. Despite battery issues and minor things like this I have continued to purchase Ridgid tools because of the warranty. I know all batteries will eventually fail so at least I'm covered as long as I live. November 25, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Very Low Battery Life from a freshly charged battery (the one that comes with it, i believe its 1ah.. the unit with the sanding pad attachment will only last a mere 5 minutes at full speed. I understand sanding is probably a high amp load but still. its not even worth using at this point. I have other Ridgid tools and they're great. The same battery in a 12v cordless drill lasts forever. i have narrowed it down to the tool. For significant jobs, This 12v jobmax will stay in the shed. November 24, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Save you money - buy a Fein Similar to what others have reported, after 1 year of limited use the battery wouldn't charge; the charger indicating it was defective. Purchased a replacement battery at Home Depot and with no use the battery charger indicated it was defective - out of the package. I will return the replacement battery for a refund and see if I can get the unit fixed or replacement parts. Luckily it only cost $100 (replacement batter was $70!). I will replace it with a Fein which I should have bought in the first place. September 11, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The multiple use of this product is great I purchased this tool about a year and a half ago we moved about the same time and have doing a lot of renovations on the new house. I have used this multi tool on every room I have remodeled in one aspect or another I have purchased most of the multiple heads that come with tool and love everyone I have purchased. I don't know what I would do if didn't have this Ridgid tool. November 24, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by i use this product for everything! i purchased the Job Max 12 volt kit, with the socket wrench, and jig saw head. I have used this product from laying laminate flooring, plumbing, installing drywall, insulating my shop, and most recently installing composite decking. I have had other multi-tools but none stand up to the Job Max. I have been a loyal Ridgid owner for many years! Thank You for making a versatile and well made tool! Sincerely; Mike A. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works well for many odd tasks This product works great when space is limited. It has various available attachments that make many odd jobs much easier. Never had a problem with the battery or any other parts. I'm very impressed with this product. November 24, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good little tool I've had mine for about a year and a half now. Had always wanted to get a similar tool but never did. The other tools don't offer the different heads like the Job Max. I have an angle drill, the ratchet and several different blades for it. As a residential contractor I'm faced with many different tasks during a build. My cordless JM has been a lifesaver many times. But it does have it's limitations and drawbacks. You have to remember it's only 12 volts, which is OK by me. It's very handy when installing flooring or trim, drywall, foam insulation. Most anyting where space is limited I grab it. One of the drawbacks are the batteries. They are a bit spendy and don't really last too long. They could use an upgrade. Also I think Ridgid could offer a bigger selection of blades for the starter tool. I use some other makers blades and such from time to time. all in all the JobMax is a handy little tool. Wish I had one a long time ago. November 24, 2014
