A workhorse of our home workshop. Works up to expectations as with all my other Risgid equipment. Spindle/belt changeout is quick and easy. The only negative I've experienced is that the knob to take off the attachments sometimes self tightens; As it is supposed to be a hand tighten knob for replacing the attachments, this is a mild bummer. Have definitely has to take a wrench to it a few times-which marrs the rubber.

Quick and easy to go from belt to spindle. Makes quick work of dressing edges and curves on stock up to 1 1/2". The ability to sand in a bevel with the adjustable top is a nice feature.

I lost the safety key for the switch, so I can not turn it on or off. I tried several HD stores to get one and they just looked at me and laughed. I just lost over an hour of my life on the RIGID parts site trying to order it and getting nothing but broken links and "not found" statements. At one point it said "click here to order", and when I clicked it I got a message that I can not order that part. Then I followed another link to another site of their, chased around, and ended up with more "can not order that" statements.
So, the tool is useless. This is representative of the typical support service that I get from RIGID -- a brand I will no longer purchase (or accept as a gift).

Easy to disassemble to paint the awful orange color. I used black paint.. Sander does agreat job. Easy to use and set up. love the tool and belt storage areas as well as the drums. The feet dont require the machine to be bolted down. Tiltin table is a plus. The only problem I have is the cost of the belts and drum sleeves. I do have a very serious problem with the extended warranty. They expect me to jump throiugh hoops to register it. Why cant they accept the proof from the register receipt? I will reply when I have the time.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Monster Good machine, Disappointing parts availabitly
Purchased this machine a little over 6 years ago. The first 4 years that I had it I only used a couple times per month, but for the last year and a half It has seen heavy use 5-6 days per week. The machine came well adjusted out of the box. The markings on the table were accurate and the table was level. Switching between the belt and the different drums can be a little confusing at first while learning which washer size goes with the different drums, but after a few uses it becomes fairly easily to quickly switch. You need to be careful of how much pressure you put on the belt while using it. Too much pressure and the motor will bog down or you can cause the belt to rub on the back side of the table wearing into it. Because of this I feel that the guide that is on the back of the belt assembly could be a little better designed in order to prevent this from happening. The motor finally gave out which given the price of the tool and how heavily it has been used for the last year and a half is not surprising. I am disappointed that the motor is either discontinued, or when you find one it is more than the cost of the entire machine new, so parts availability and affordability could definitely be better. If you are a professional looking for something that you can use heavily for a long time this is probably not the tool for you, but if you need an affordable machine that will handle occasional heavy use or frequent light use this will probably serve you well.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by unhappy Really Versatile Sander With Good Product Support
Sander is easy to assemble and use. At first the 1" spindle drum was a little smaller than it should have been. The 1" sandpaper tube did not fit tightly and slipped, making it useless. I called Ridgid; the lady apologized, took my info and I had a new drum in about 3 days. I was really impressed with the service.

Suggest simpler instructions on which washers and spacers to use with each implement. A little vague but figured it out.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by NOTANOVICE Excellent product!
The sander accomplishes what used to take me hours on a traditional belt sander. Having the large deck surrounding the belt or spindle that is a true 90 degrees to the sanding surface allows me to rest my workpiece and focus solely on the edge that is being sanded. On long curved pieces such as table legs, chair backs, etc., I find it especially helpful. Add the flat surface provided with the belt sanding attachment and I can quickly square up small pieces for easy assembly. I have owned this sander for around 3 months and probably have 3-4 hours of use on it. At this point I have found nothing that would detract from my overall opinion of this product.
