I have an old ratcheting PVC pipe cutter that does the job, BUT does not make a true 90-degree cutoff. I will be helping a friend with an irrigation project soon. He has over six acres of property, so, I/we will be cutting lots and lots of PVC pipe. I like the no-ratcheting feature of the Ridgid PC1375, but if the cut-off is the same, why bother? Will the Ridgid PC1375 PVC and Tube Cutter provide a true 90-degree end cut? .
Asked by: HTH
I was happy with the cut. Was it a "true 90 degree cut"? Probably not, since there is there is no way to set the angle of the cut.

This is a classic example of overpaying for a brand name, and basically getting a piece of junk from China. It advertises that it will cut 1" PVC, yet when I need it to do just that, the grips were so far apart that it took two hands. After several bad cuts, I finally used an Irwin quick bar clamp to squeeze it closed--even then the cut was far from clean. Ridgid makes some of the best pipe wrenches on the market, but pretty much everything else with their name on it is overpriced junk. My advice, do your homework and look at other options; there is a lot better on the market, for a lot less.

Not only does this product cut pvc pipe, but the best part is the cut is clean. No burrs. No angles. No cracked edges. Perfectly smooth. Plus, the internal leverage requires very mild effort to cut. I use it mainly for 1/2-inch irrigation pvc, but I recently cut a 1-inch pvc with no effort. This is the best tool I have purchased in years. Strongly recommended.

It takes less space to open, so is better when working in a hole or trench. It cuts drip tubing very well. I would rate it 5 stars but it’s a bit pricey.

This PVC cutter is a bit pricey if you are only going to use it once or twice but it does make cutting a lot simpler. You do have to have fairly strong hands to use it though. It makes a nice clean cut and works well in tight quarters.
