Will this work for schdule 80 PVC?

Only by the grace of God, and other tools to help. I think it only handles up to schedule 40.

I have an old ratcheting PVC pipe cutter that does the job, BUT does not make a true 90-degree cutoff. I will be helping a friend with an irrigation project soon. He has over six acres of property, so, I/we will be cutting lots and lots of PVC pipe. I like the no-ratcheting feature of the Ridgid PC1375, but if the cut-off is the same, why bother? Will the Ridgid PC1375 PVC and Tube Cutter provide a true 90-degree end cut? .
Asked by: HTH
I was happy with the cut. Was it a "true 90 degree cut"? Probably not, since there is there is no way to set the angle of the cut.

And i own a lot of cutting and threading tools + Pipe wrenches. This product was purchased using Home Depots recommendation as i was to be cutting a lot of 1" PVC Sch 80. This cutter did the job but did not offer enough leverage at the handle to do the job easily. However, i did add 2 pieces of 1" pipe about 2 feet long and then got the tool to cut the PVC pipe i made about 350 cuts with this modification and it worked. This says something about the quality of the Ridgid brand of tools. But it also say something about the recommendations you may receive from the Home Depot staff. This cutter is great for cutting sch 10 pipe but i would not recommend it for sch 40 or 80.

Maybe not a pro tool, but it can easily handle most types of plastic pipe cuts for the average handy homeowner. Well made, solid metal. Sharp cutting blade. Used to cut polybutylene and polypropylene sink tubing. To make this work well you have to rotate it as you cut - I think some people neglect to do use the proper technique and then blame the tool.

Not only does this product cut pvc pipe, but the best part is the cut is clean. No burrs. No angles. No cracked edges. Perfectly smooth. Plus, the internal leverage requires very mild effort to cut. I use it mainly for 1/2-inch irrigation pvc, but I recently cut a 1-inch pvc with no effort. This is the best tool I have purchased in years. Strongly recommended.

It takes less space to open, so is better when working in a hole or trench. It cuts drip tubing very well. I would rate it 5 stars but it’s a bit pricey.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from RIDGID PC1375 PVC and Tube Cutter Worked like a charm! The cut made a perfect connection for my pool'sl 3/4" PVC piping as necessary. Cut right through like butter and no issues when I sealed the piping. No runs, no drips, no errors!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from it cuts, but always straight this tube cutter works fine. I had to cut a bunch of 1/4" CPVC pipes and it would cut fine, but some cuts were at an angle so i had to recut them or just grinded the edges down to make it straight.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not great It works ok on new pvc but hard to use on older more brittle pvc. There is no ratcheting action to assist cutting power. You will need strong hands. Not good if making a lot of cuts.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of money Didn't notice this didn't have a ratcheting mechanism at time of purchase. You can get much better ones for less money. I can't even believe they would even put this on their shelves
