Product Overview

Expand your RIDGID wet dry vac's versatility with the RIDGID Vacuum Pump. If you're restoring a flooded basement, this is an ideal tool to eliminate water without transporting the vacuum up and down stairs. Install the pump on the drain port of the vac and secure a standard garden hose to the pump. Run the hose vertically and out a window for liquid disposal. The pump secures to any RIDGID vac with a drain and enables the shop vac to pump 10 gallons of water per minute up to 40 ft. high.

Customer Questions & Answers

what about sand, grit or mud in the water?

I vacuum out my garage in winter. Sand and grit in the slush collect in the bottom of the vac over time. If sand gets into the pump, can I at least clear it out or is the pump ruined?
Asked by: jimh
There is a strainer so any large material will get caught in the strainer. Find silt and sand will be pumped out with the water.

Can the pump be used without the vac? Debris in water?

Can this pump be used independent the vacuum unit? What I am looking for is a pump that I can use to clean debris out of my koi pond. i.e. removing leafs and dying algae.
Asked by: TPS123
You can with a little tinkering, female thread of the pump's quick connect is an ISP 1" thread. I don't recommend using the pump in debris applications. It's to cheap it will break.

Can this be used on other shop vac's or only exclusivly on a Ridgid Shop Vac?

Asked by: GreaseMonkey3393
To the best of my knowledge this can only be used on ridgid vacs. If the drain spout is the same thread then it will work that is all that maters when it comes to the attachment of this product

Can the pump and vac be used simultaneously, emptying the tank while filling it?

Asked by: Anonymous
My concern would be when the water level reaches the point where the pump starts to cavitate (no water), loss of vacuum at the hose would occur when both pressures would equalize through the inlet of the pump as it sucks air in via air gaps. Running the pump would only work as long as there is enough water to keep air from entering the path of least resistance at only one end. In other words there can only be one path of least resistance in a vacuum and that's the hose used to pickup debris/water. Opening another point for air to enter in the vacuum chamber would only compromise vacuum seal integrity rendering the vacuum process to cease working.

I needed a way to empty a wet vac on a 14th floor balcony without crossing a furnished area. No way to manhandle the vac filled with water. This pump did what the description says it does. It pumps out 12 gallons in about 1-2 minutes. Vac up the water. Turn off the vac. Turn on the pump. It's that easy. Note that this pump requires a vac with a drain port. The smaller vacs (9 gallon and the like) may not have this port.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Invaluable Among other business lines, I do emergency water cleanup. We use vacuum cleaners for much of this task. It is often a problem, emptying vacuum tanks into toilet bowls or slop sinks. Wrestling a water filled vacuum that weighs a hundred pounds is no fun, and can lead to disasters. With this tool, I can pump out with a garden hose. In addition to emptying my Ridgid vac, I can use the Ridgid vac tank as a transfer pump. It's a little slow, but it is much safer than manhandling machinery. My only beef, is that I wish it was easier to build adapters to attach this to my other non Ridgid machines.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Buy it A backsaver. Made getting water out of the basement much easier. I had a little trouble with the connect to the wet vac. Some leakage. More of a problem with the installer than the pump.
