The drills that we purchased for our HS robotics team work well. They do not have a great deal of power, and will stall out and shut off if you try to apply too much torque, but they are only 12 v. They are quite capable of drilling through metal and installing fasteners. The flashlights have proven to be surprisingly useful working in a shop for looking for dropped parts and seeing inside of pieces.

I bought a 12V Rigid drill in 2010 and sent in all required information to receive the lifetime warranty on the product. After having a problem with the battery within the first 6 months, it was quickly serviced and everything was fine. Now the battery is showing as defective when plugged into the charger and I am now being told that my warranty has expired. They are advising that I did not follow the necessary steps to get the Lifetime Service Warranty. This is not the case, I was very diligent to make sure I followed all steps to be covered by the warranty (the main reason I bought Rigid). Now I have a drill that I can't use because the battery is defective.

Best 12v drill money can buy. Ridgid does not disappoint. Only thing I'd like to see added is a built in battery gauge instead of the light blinking when the battery is almost dead. It's really hard to see outside in the daylight. I ran 1/4" x 3 1/2" lag bolts today through 2, 3/4" sheets of OSB and a 2x6 lying flat with no issues.

Bought this combo yesterday, the light is easy to function and the drill is very powerful for it's size. It works really well so far. Convient and fast to charge

This little drill has a big heart. Loads of torque, feels extremely solid, light, small, and works great so far. The flashlight can indeed blind you if you look at the light.
Charger does its work in 30 minutes. I tried to drill 4 inch screws into maple and oak logs, I broke most of the heads off the screws trying to screw it all the way in, so this baby has some serious power for its size.
Comes with two batteries that work with my JOBMAX tool with swappable heads, which also came with a battery, so 3 batteries means I will never run out of power. I sent the paperwork in for lifetime warranty, and a service cetner 10 minutes away from my house. So far this is a great deal.
Only negative is the bag, which seems to be the new standard for most brands.

I received this drill/light combo for father's day, and as luck would have it I had just purchased a MasterCraft Li-ion drill the day before, so was able to compare the two closely. Ridgid tool has 3x the torque, 3x the variable speed, and is even a little smaller than the MasterCraft equivalent. The light is a full one watt LED; don't look at it when it is on! AND, a lifetime warranty, including batteries? Are you kidding me? Who else does that? Great value. Thank you to my two daughters, you're the best!!!

I've had this drill for about 4 months now and have been extremely happy with the performance. I am re-wiring my home and have no problem drilling through thick wooden joists. The built-in light is a real help and replaces a troublelight in tight spaces. I have an 18 volt DeWalt drill and I find I am reaching for this smaller drill most of the time. The flashlight is useful but has not had much use. Battery life is excellent and so far I would recommend this tough little drill to anyone.
