Customer Questions & Answers

Are the batteries lifetime warrentied.

does the manufacturer still have you send them the bad battery for a new replacement . Thanks for any help !
Asked by: MetalMike
Yes. Batteries are covered under the lifetime warranty as long as you registered the product properly when you first bought it. Be warned, if you get a new battery, you must register the new battery to have the lifetime warranty coverage on that one. There are lots of reviews online bashing RIDGID for not covering batteries because replacement batteries were not registered. You will probably have to send in your old battery so they can verify. You can go to the RIDGID tool website to find a service center, or as I recently found out, take it to the tool rental counter at a Home Depot store and they'll handle it from there, but it might involve shipping away to a service center and you'll be without your battery for a few weeks while it's in transit and processing.

Why does the pictues come with a RyobiNation video?

I guess the HD web team selected the wrong video. Opps!

Reconditioned 18-Volt Drill and Impact Combo Kit is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great product but lousy manufactuer I have a great deal of rigid tools. As part of the LSA you are required to register the product on line. OK I don't agree with this voiding your warranty but can live with it. Now after registering the product on line the manufacturer will send a request requiring you to send your original receipt to them by registered mail. This is obviously a process to reduce the number of products they warranty and is just bad business. Home Depot is the exclusive distributor for this line and as such without knowing their agreements I would believe that this. Is essentially their private brand. As such this reflects on them as well. You have to ask yourself do you really want to do business with an entity that behaves this way.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nice tools, difficult to register for warranty. I bought these tools partially because of the advertised lifetime warranty offered. So after buying, I tried registering for warranty. I entered all of the serial numbers (drill, driver, two batteries, charger, radio), and the receipt code, and now I have an email saying cannot confirm, please send the receipt to South Carolina. Ridgid, it is 2017. I don't keep a supply of envelopes and stamps to USA. Everything is digital. So now because of a problem with your system I have to go out of my way to buy an envelope, a stamp (and your email requested certified delivery, which will likely be over $10 for registered mail), and go out of my way to go to a post office. Talk about a waste of time. I am thinking of making just one easy trip back to home depot and returning these tools and keeping life simple.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the money I purchased these drills 3 1/2 years ago and they have been excellent. For the price of the drills and the warranty offered for both the drills in the batteries you can't go wrong. I have used these drills under moderate and heavy jobs and they have held up great. That being said when I buy my next set of drills I will be buying the Rigid brushless drills as an upgrade.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Driver Just received for xmas. The drill is great with the locking chuck and speed control, but I find the speed control for the driver is very difficult to master. It is too fast for most screws and strips the thread. Need a more sensitive speed control for lower start speeds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of power, good battery life You can't go wrong with this kit. Quick charge batteries that last a long time. Tons of torque and power. Lightweight, but not so light they feel cheap, feels good in the hands. I use this set daily and hasn't let me down or wanting a different brand. I've used all the big box brands and these ones will not disappoint you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why 5 stars? I've used many cordless drills and impact drivers and sure, perhaps this one doesn't have quite as much torque or is not quite as light as the top of the line Milwaukee or Makita BUT, I've had this for some time. I've built decks, Finished basements, constructed sheds, built a motorcycle, and a cottage (and more) and they've done the job, taken a beating and kept on working. OK, the batteries are not as good as the Makita and fail every 2 years instead of every 3 years BUT because I took the time to register them correctly for the mere cost of a trip to the local service centre for a painless replacement I will never have to pay for batteries again. I'm on my 4th set of batteries with no hassles whatsoever. My drivers and recip saw have never missed a beat. The fact is that ALL batteries will eventually die...and you'll have to buy new ones...Not with the Ridgid...So who cares if they have a 30% shorter life...They get recycled and I get new ones. Nobody else offer s this. Just do the paperwork and these are the last drills you will ever have to buy....You can't beat that...And Ridgid has kept their end of the bargain over years now. I wouldn't ever buy another drill/driver...because I'll never need to....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Value I am a general contractor and use this drill almost daily. Have owned it for over a year and think it is an excellent tool. The warranty makes it a great deal. I have started buying numerous Ridgid tools because of the lifetime warranties they have.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good. Have been a long time Milwaukee and DeWalt user and when my Milwaukee drill died after years of regular use, I thought I'd put the names on the outside of the tool aside and give a lesser considered brand a shot. Want to try to standardize my tools over time so I don't have 4 or 5 different types of chargers and battery packs. Ridgid seems to have a good selection in the 18V line up at a competitive price point and HD seems to have them on sale on a regular basis. Have used these on one major project so far and am pleased with the power, battery life and charging speed. Admit that the drill driver has better balance and hand feel than my old Milwaukee. Like that the battery packs have a charge status indicator - very helpful in keeping them charged up and knowing if I have enough power left to get through a task. The spring "eject" on the driver really threw me off at first - for a couple days I was chasing ejected bits across the floor, but in little time I got used to it and have come to like the feature. My only (minor) criticism so far is that I find the location of the light on the drill a bit odd - in a tight spot it doesn't really help since it's on the base and can be obscured by whatever obstacle you are working around. Otherwise after a couple of months of use, I'm happy with the purchase.
