I used this tool for the first time this morning. The non-marring base is not good. It does mar the surface. Also, the base is so soft I gouged it from the surface I was cutting (1/16" steel).
The quick change blade is good.
I don't like the adjustable base. It does not have positive notches to find the preset angles. Once I set the saw at 0°, the vibration of the saw caused the base to loosen and change the angle. That messed up my work piece.
Nope; don't buy this one folks. I have a Bosch that serves me well.

First, I would like to say that I am a Ridgid fan, most of the power tools that I own are ridged brand, love their stuff. This jig saw.... lets just be honest.... this jig saw is terrible compared to other jig saws available on the market. I see the response from Ridgid on the other comments. I think you guys need to just admit that this tool isn't as good as most of your products. I just hope that instead of "standing behind your product" you (Ridgid) will take the feedback as constructive criticism and redesign the jig saw. Remember the point of feedback is to identify weak areas and make improvements.

the Bevel doesn't lock when trying to cut, while making a radius cut it bevels on you making an incorrect cut

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by 21Don21 Spend the extra money on a DeWalt
I will start off by saying this, for thin material (less than 1/8"), it works great. For anything thicker it is completely useless due to the shoe not staying locked in the 90 degree setting regardless of how tight I turn the set screw. After reading the reviews, I see this is a common complaint. After reading the replies to the reviews, I do not expect anything to be done since I foolishly did not cut anything thicker than paneling until after 90 days had passed. I will continue to use my 1/4" impact driver (fantastic tool) and use more caution in the future when selecting Ridgid tools.

I have quite a few ridged tools that I'm completely satisfied with , so I bought this saw without doing any research, trusting that it would be of the same quality.
I'm not happy with it at all. The blade is set back so far, it's nearly impossible to follow a line. The LED lighting illuminates the work way to far ahead of the blade. The degree marks to zero the angle of the shoe is blocked by the handle.
All together, a poor design. It will be gathering dust under my workbench while my new dewalt saw does the work.
The only redeeming quality of this tool was the price, and after using it , that was too high as well. I hadn't used it until it was past the 90 days, so I'm stuck with it.
A total disappointment.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by tkhandy Why no variable speed ???
I own many Ridgid products and was all set to buy this one but (and I can't believe other users haven't mentioned this) it doesn't have variable speed - virtually everyone has variable speed as standard, how can you cut a variety of materials without it? - hopefully this is in the works as I can't buy until you have it, can you advise status on this ??

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by farmmom Ridgid Jig saw
My husband purchased a Ridgid jig saw for me. I find it very awkward to use. The plate does not lock in the 0 position and it is hard to find. It is hard to find the correct angle if I want to move it. It does not have a finger off and on switch. This is my biggest complaint. I feel it is a safety issue to have the off/on switch at the top of the saw. It is very awkward to cut the board, hold the saw and turn it off. The grip is huge, of course I am a lady so I do not have big man hands.
