Overall, this isn't a bad compressor. It is best suited for using small tools at your own home. One major problem is the current draw. This machine runs very close to a full 15 amps, occasionally tripping its own built in 15 amp breaker. This makes if finicky at some locations. If you are a contractor you may run into a problem in homes with lower than average line voltage tripping the breaker. The ability to separate the pump from the tank was only useful one time, allowing me to adjust the regulator while keeping the noisy compressor away from me. I have since purchased a larger compressor so that I can do sandblasting, This one I will probably end up selling.

I was real diligent in looking for a good air compressor for to put on my roof. I was looking for an air compressor with enough CFM to run 2 roofing nail guns. This compressor from Home depot had the best reviews should handle 2 guns I had bought a second air compressor to run a third nail gun. When we tried to use the compressor from Home depot it would it would load up with 175 lbs of air causing the release valve to release air there is no adjustment for tank pressure tried to get to work it would be fine for a couple of minutes then same problem it caused the circuit button to trip because the problems with the compressor one of the nail guns got screwed up I returned the compressor. For a full refund . The other air compressor I had bought was able to handle 2 roofing nail guns al n al the compressor cost 2 days time, fuel and frustration. they could eliminate this problem by putting a tank pressure adjustment on it .

I would seem all the negative comments were true! In the first five minutes of operation the pressure regulator blew out. This nearly immediate failure cost me time and money. It also caused inconvenience to my customer. The compressor is now sitting in the repair shop waiting on parts. I've had to go buy another compressor to finish the job. I did NOT buy another Rigid unit and I went elsewhere (Not HD) to purchase the second new unit. Avoid, Do Not Buy.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by terryn Nice compressor - poor packaging
This is a really nice, versatile compressor. It looks just like new. The only downside is the packaging in the shipping box. When the unit arrived the box was partially crushed. When I opened it the compressor was loose inside the box with a little bit of bubble wrap thrown in for show. Upon examination I discovered that the plastic cover on the compressor was cracked. It didn't affect the operation of the compressor. I contacted HD and rather than screwing around with an exchange they refunded me $20.

Regulator broke the second time I used it now I can't use the bottom tanks at all and
It's a worthless hunk of junk now that I'll have to spend money on to repair if I want to use it

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by treasuregetter DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! Horrible packaging caused major damage!
The original retail boxed product is a well designed compressor, though it's very loud. This refurbished version is so horribly packaged that it will not survive shipping. Do not buy it unless you're okay with it arriving in many pieces like a typical Lego set, plus additional unrepairable damage. Home Depot did take it back and issue a full refund with zero hassle. You would be much better off buying one of the California Air Tools compressors instead. They are very well built and extremely quiet, though I had to tighten three or four nuts when mine arrived. No big deal and totally worth it. I love my model CAT-4620A. The "A" model has aluminum tanks so it'll never rust out and it's also lighter. Its so quiet that you hardly notice it running indoors when you're ten feet away. You won't regret it!

I have been beading around the bush on purchasing a decent compressor for a while. I wanted something that could power some occasional impact use so I wanted something with around 5 SCFM @90 PSI or more. I searched and searched and almost went for something smaller and I'm glad I didn't.
This thing packs some heat, I haven't really put the impact to the test yet, but I was able to use the HB pneumatic vacuum pump no problem to do my truck's A/C. This thing really uses some power, so pay attention and plug it straight into the wall or use an extension cord rated for its use.
The portability of this thing is awesome, I can split it in two in no time and carry it out to the driveway and have less noise. Not gonna lie this thing is loud but it's gotta be to be this small and give this much air. All the gauges and pressure and release valves are really nice to have too.
Lastly I gotta agree that the packaging is a little ridiculous. Big 'ol box with basically no padding. After reading other reviews I was half expecting damage but there was none, although the bottom of the box had already come apart so your mileage may vary depending on your UPS guy. Speaking of which, it got here in just a couple of days with the free shipping option!
In the end I'm so glad I went for this compressor and I hope it lasts for years to come.
