Answer:
Yes, you can remove the end - by warming it up first in very hot water. But no, I don't think you will be able to put it back after shortening the hose - the flange the end is connected to has diameter larger than the rest of the hose.

Answer:
No. The diameter of the ends are molded larger to fit the couplings. And the main body of the hose will not stretch in diameter. You will need to replace the hose.

The ends are pre-formed and a bit larger in diameter than the hose, and there's no easy way to shorten it. The ends do come out though. Answer:
The hose comes with only one end attached, and three ends to chose from for the other end. Because the end screws into the hose, you should have no problem cutting the host shorter and then screwing the end you need into the shortened hose.

The hose has a standard 2-1/2" dust collector fitting on one end. You have the option of using the second 2-1/2" fitting and a 2-1/2" dust collector coupling,. If the 2-1/2" end works for attaching on both ends, you can also use a 2-1/2" hose coupling and making a hose twice as long.
If you are trying to reach the celling from the floor, you might want to consider getting a 10' section of dust collector Read More

With your vacuum on a small worktable or something mobile to raise the vacuum off the floor by about 1 to 2 feet with BOTH hoses and extension tubes you should have no problem reaching 15'. Each hose should be approximately 7 foot long.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Rigid Vacuums are excellent I have always had good results with all Rigid products. July 26, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Accessory Documentation poor Vacuum is excellent, but comes with only one tool. There is no documentation on the box what size hose comes with the tool. Additional accessories come in a few sizes and the stores I went to had these all mixed up in the bins they were supposed to be in. Took multiple trips to store to fully equip the unit with all necessary accessories. The manual does not specify the hose diameter either. Additional extension tubes which come with most other vacs are not included. Total cost to outfit this tool is greater than their more powerful vacs which come with many more accessores standard. Seems a lot to pay for a portable in light of above. June 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Quality, Good Price Large hose set fit my home depot stainless steel shop vac perfectly, in fact went back and bought another set to extend the reach. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by what a great ridgid product! The material of the vaccuum hose is strong and sturdy. I use it quite a bit in my garage and have had absolutely no problems. It has not shown any signs of imperfections and works perfectly fine with a dust collector I made. June 11, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by a replacement for a shop vac it was hard to get into the intake opening and i could not fit the attachment on. May 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Extend my hose I was making a dust separator and required another hose to go from my Craftsman wet/dry vacuum to the separator. The various attachments allowed me to configure the hose for my desired application. April 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice addition to my wet dry vac The long vacuum hose allows me to extend the reach while leaving the vacuum in one place. It works great for cleaning vehicles and high places that the normal hose can't reach. April 7, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A lot of Hose I made this purchase with the intent of using it as an extension hose for the hose already supplied with the vac. The hose works well and appears to be very durable. My only confusion comes on the issue of the supplied adapters. There were three adapters included that were various diameters. These were not clearly marks so i had to "puzzle piece" the various adapters until I found the one needed. There still remains an adapter that I am not sure of it's designed use. February 23, 2016
