Customer Reviews

SuperClamp Workstation is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good, but not great.... This is one of the few times I didn’t feel good about buying a Ridgid product. While this offering may be similar to the Jawhorse it is not made nearly as well. It may even be made by Rockwell for Ridgid, but it is definitely not identical. The overall design is a bit less substantial than its counterpart, not to mention the leg construction, most noticeable is the rear leg set up. While neither is a great design, this version is noticeably less sturdy than the jawhorse. The jaws themselves are actually shorter and narrower on this model as well. I actually bought this model and returned it after comparing it to the Jawhorse. It’s not a bad product, but at only twenty dollar difference, why be left wanting for the original? Had this been priced at $100 or even $125, I think it would have been a great deal, but not at $159. Just compare the two side by side and decide for yourself.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your time or money - buy the Rockwell Jawhorse I purchased both this and the Rockwell Jawhorse and compared them side by side (literally). I am a big fan of Ridgid and am a happy owner of MANY of their tools, but they really missed the mark on this one. The Jawhorse is much more stable, easier to use and has almost 3 times the weight capacity (600 vs. 220). The Jawhorse does weigh 6 pounds more than the Ridgid, but the difference in quality is well worth it. If you are in the market for one of these, spend the few extra bucks the Jawhorse costs ($20 more at the time I wrote this). You won't be sorry!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not a Rockwell, but excellent value! I picked one up today for $99 using an emailed coupon code. First a comment on a couple of other reviewers points. One, it's does have a clamping ability of 37.5", you just have to remove the adjustable jaw and refit it the other way around, takes about five seconds. Two, issues with legs and steps that fold unexpectedly can be avoided by carefully reading and following the instructions when assembling. I would rate the overall build quality as sturdy, but not rock solid. Metal instead of plastic knobs would have been an inexpensive addition to the design. Mine came with a couple of spare plugs for holding the rubber jaw faces on by the way. Looking at it you would expect it to be able to support four to five hundred pounds, but in actual fact it's rated at 220lbs. It would be great if the Rockwell accessories which HD also carry, fitted this model as well but I don't know the answer to that yet. Four stars because it's not a 'Rock', but at almost half the price it's an excellent value for the money!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Superclamp My Superclamp was delivered in just a few days. I set it up to give it a try and was a little disappointed in the quality. The turn knobs that hold the front legs extended do not hold very good. When I went to tip it up on it's legs, they just folded up. Then I put a board in it to clamp it up and there is a folding joint in the foot pedal arm and it wouldn't hold. It seems to have corrected itself. It now holds when I push down to clamp something. Then one of the little plastic buttons that hold the rubber pad in place fell out. I found it and put it back in, but I don't know if it will stay. This was all discovered in the first 30 minutes of trying it out. It's a little lighter than Brand X but I don't believe the quality is there. It clamps up nice and tight and releases just fine. A little fine tuning here and there and it could be a very nice tool.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid but has annoyances The good: Grips well, with power - Reasonably stable - Does what I expected - The bad: The directions were poorly written, illustrated and thought out 3 legs allows for tipping heavy The first problem was opening the box and reading the poor instructions. The rubber jaw clamp covers were not designed to fit on this system and I needed some superglue to make them stay. My first use was to cut rebar, not the easiest process and I needed to experiment until I got it to work as I needed. Generating force on the rebar required that I step on the opposite leg to minimize tipping. Once I leaarned a technique all went well. For the price and the utility, you would not find a better tool at this price point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SuperClamp arrives in KC I have watched many times on weekend television the superclamp device but under another name at a much higher price. When I received your notice of availability under the Rigid name I immediately purchased the SuperClamp. On the day the SuperClamp arrived I used the product that same day and the benefits of the tool with the Rigid support was outstanding. The tool was everything Home Depot advertised at an excellent price and with no shipping to boot! I expect to enjoy the SuperClamp for many years to come and just knowing that this tool will allow me to complete projects single handed. Thank you Home Depot for another job well done.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from superclamp workstation Workstation seems to work as advertised. We purchased the workstation as a worksite clamp for larger doors and windows. It works well, however, a second support is required to work with doors. We will probably purchase a second unit for another workstation. It does increase efficiency, as it allows work on either side of the workpiece without rotation or turning.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from does a good job Overall, I'm pleased with the superclamp. It holds the boards I cut pretty well and the clamping and release can done quite quickly. One thing I found - the clamp face itself isn't very large. To get around this problem I removed the rubber pads that fit the clamp and cut some boards to size (much larger than the clamps), drilled out some holes and bolted them through the eyelets where the rubber pads attached to. This helped make the product much better.
