I have a problem with this compressor tripping the reset button all the time!whats the deal?

Seems like you may use a min. Amount of air and it wants to replace it right away but when it goes to start it sounds like it is under a load and will trip the reset, is this a warranty issue? I am thinking so! Any ideas, thanks Doug

I appreciate all of the great answers. Mine was on a 15 amp breaker at first, so I plugged it in to a 20 amp dedicated breaker. Bought it in May of 2013, and problem came up after about 1 1/2 years. I can't find the receipt to return for warranty, so what next? When pressure is building up, and all three tanks are connected, breaker pops, and air bleeds out of the switch housing. Every single time. On the web site, there are quite a number of unhappy people with the same problem

How much does this unit weigh to be carried? Does it separate?

Asked by: blue
It does separate into 2 parts. It's easy enough to separate...but I don't usually bother. The unit is heavy...but you can carry it. I wouldn't want to be hauling it around all the time. It's heavier than it looks. I think it probably should have wheels...would be more convenient and mobile. When separated, it is easier to carry. It's just not simple enough to do quickly.

Customer Reviews

Tri-Stack 5 Gal. Portable Electric Steel Orange Air Compressor is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 199.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from 4 years and 10000 hours later still running strong So I don't usually bother writing reviews on products but I feel that after a product has been as good as this has it deserves recognition. I'm a professional carpenter and purchased this compressor 4 years ago when my dewalt quit on me. I have a few different compressors but this is usually my go to for most things. I have used it to build 6 houses, 17 roofs, thousands of feet of trim, and much more. It has held up quite well, now 4 years later it's pretty banged up and I have replaced various wear parts. Even still it out performs a lot of compressors and has been through many hours of use, tossed in and out of the trucks, left outside in the rain, had lumber dropped on it and fallen 12 feet off a deck and it still comes back for more. Now having said all of the positive things about it, the compressor does have its drawbacks. For one you must have a large enough circuit to run it, 20A minimum. This compressor is louder than many others in poduction and yes you can separate it but sometimes that can be an annoying task. Another thing is the fact that it weighs 80lbs. I ended up fashioning a wheel barrow type mount for it due to the weight. This compressor has paid for itself over the years and will be replaced with the same when it does die.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great value but forget LSA on Compressor Great Tool after buying found out compressor isn't LSA qualified. Nailer couldn't be registered online so expensive registered mailing is required. The online registration has never worked for any of my 8 tool purchases. Check the internet yourself to see the customers frustrated with registering and processing LSA claims. I'm not sure the LSA is worth anything after sending registered letters at $28 a batch so I don't recommend this as online registering never works in Canada and once you have a warranty you get the run around.

Also allows you to take the tank to remote locations and not have to drag the pump also. I purchased it for a small wood shop for nailing and spray painting. It will get a inline filter and separator before I get to paint again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from compressor broke 8 months of use. normal operation, no abuse to compressor, just broke. This is the second Ridgid compressor I have owned. The first one broke ( reed valve failed and destroyed the piston and cylinder) took it back to get it replaced, out of luck had to buy a new one. Thought I would give Ridgid one more chance, Bought the Tri Stack unit. Broke after very light normal use after 8 months. Was still under warranty, was fixed and returned in 4 weeks. Suggestion for Ridgid. Replace compressor when customer brings it back for repair. I had to buy another compressor to use while my damaged one was being repaired. I will not buy another Ridgid tool..... I hope that the repaired compressor will last for years to come but I,m not counting on it.
