Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by jsb1140 Very excellent boat anchor
I have had this compressor for 2 years and there is a problem with the switch turning off. I am on my 3rd switch which supposedly solved the problem. Now the tanks will not fill up so there must be a leak somewhere even though you can't find it with the motor off. I'm out the cost of I expected to be a good compressor and 3 trips to the repair shop which almost exceeds the cost of the compressor. This compressor was lightly used and never abused. I'm not going to waste any more money on it and use it as a boat anchor.

Too heavy and bulky for portable use. I returned it and bought one that was easier to handle with similar features.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by renov8tr Very good buy!!
I purchased this unit last fall to replace a rigid gas powered wheelbarrow compressor.
As a contractor, I rely on my compressor to be up to snuff. So far, this has been a very good purchase.
It has done everything I've asked it to do, from airing up tires to removing sawdust, to powering nail guns.
On a cold Wisconsin November day, I was called in to assist on a roofing project. Two other compressors on site were failing. We Plugged in The Rigid to the exterior outlet, and ran 2 roofing nail guns for 10 hours, with no problem. More recently, this past weekend I used this compressor on another roofing project. This time I separated the compressor. The tanks were up on the roof, with the head inside the garage. In both of these roofing jobs, the Rigid worked fine.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Jay Hunk of garbage!
This thing is garbage. Worked or week or two. Check valve broke and compressor would only fill tank once. When air was used and pressure was lost it would not turn it's self back on. Can not find parts for this and when I ordered a aftermarket one it wasn't a exact fit and I broke another piece on the thing trying to make it fit. NEVER again will I buy rigid. STICK WITH DEWALT!!!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Zman Was a great toy until failed
I purchased this compressor in 2013. Has been running like a champ from an outlet and from my extension cord until recently. I needed it where electricity was only available from a generator. Plugged it in to the generators (4k running) 20A outlet and it was just humming also choking my generator. Later home when it didn't work from an outlet either I started troubleshooting. Found the starting capacitor blown out. Weeks later when I replaced the capacitor it is now acting up from its dedicated outlet too. Won't start up under pressure and takes multiple tries to get it running. It is pretty much worthless at this point. Seems like something the manufacturer should consider for recall after all these similar complaints.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Plantman Absolutely frustrating
I bought this in May of 2013, and it has a three year warranty. After one year, it did what others had mentioned. It pops a 20 amp breaker as it builds up pressure, and pops the reset button on the back of the motor.
When I am using the upper tank only, the motor cycles of and on like it should for 4 or 5 times, then pops breaker. When I flip the air supply to the bottom tanks, breaker pops as unit struggles to fill up all tanks. When this happens, the air regulator/ on off switch bleeds all of the air out of the tank.
Rigid wants the receipt for the repair at the nearest repair shop (80 miles away), and I cannot find it. Grrrr
This compressor is Junk, not dependable, and frustrating customer service.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Mesa3 Good compressor
I'm way late to the review writing party as I bought mine 10/2012.
The concept of this compressor is awesome and haven't had any problems with it to this point, not to jinx it.
The ability to split it and all the different ways to do it is awesome.
This thing is pretty heavy as a whole but splitting it up in to two for carrying it offsets that for me.
It is kind of loud but that doesn't bother me and I mostly use this in loud environments anyways. I never really look at how quiet a compressor is though.
The big issue, as mentioned before, is the power draw. It does pop it's breaker alot when letting off excess pressure after refill or restarting after it just ran for awhile. I find this happens more in warmer weather. I always try to have it on a 20 amp breaker to be able to handle the compressor. I would give it 5 stars if it weren't for this but having a reliable start for auto refill is obviously important.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Chip Terrible Purchase, good way to cost you money
This compressor was a junker from the start, It had 2 air leaks out of the box, Ok thats and easy fix. So now its onto the breaker on the back, Many times when this compressor would start a cycle it would pop the breaker. Today the compressor would start slow and without the safety pulled it would pop the breaker. I had it plugged into a 20amp circuit without a cord, that wasn't the issue. So it wouldn't work all day as it should. I was working a siding job and had over 2hrs of loss of production before I pulled the plug and brought it back to depot. They gladly accepted the return and the customer sales rep said its not the first one she has seen back. There are plenty of other options in the same cost and class as this one I suggest you try another compressor.
