I have a problem with this compressor tripping the reset button all the time!whats the deal?

Seems like you may use a min. Amount of air and it wants to replace it right away but when it goes to start it sounds like it is under a load and will trip the reset, is this a warranty issue? I am thinking so! Any ideas, thanks Doug

I appreciate all of the great answers. Mine was on a 15 amp breaker at first, so I plugged it in to a 20 amp dedicated breaker. Bought it in May of 2013, and problem came up after about 1 1/2 years. I can't find the receipt to return for warranty, so what next? When pressure is building up, and all three tanks are connected, breaker pops, and air bleeds out of the switch housing. Every single time. On the web site, there are quite a number of unhappy people with the same problem

How much does this unit weigh to be carried? Does it separate?

Asked by: blue
It does separate into 2 parts. It's easy enough to separate...but I don't usually bother. The unit is heavy...but you can carry it. I wouldn't want to be hauling it around all the time. It's heavier than it looks. I think it probably should have wheels...would be more convenient and mobile. When separated, it is easier to carry. It's just not simple enough to do quickly.

Also allows you to take the tank to remote locations and not have to drag the pump also. I purchased it for a small wood shop for nailing and spray painting. It will get a inline filter and separator before I get to paint again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from compressor broke 8 months of use. normal operation, no abuse to compressor, just broke. This is the second Ridgid compressor I have owned. The first one broke ( reed valve failed and destroyed the piston and cylinder) took it back to get it replaced, out of luck had to buy a new one. Thought I would give Ridgid one more chance, Bought the Tri Stack unit. Broke after very light normal use after 8 months. Was still under warranty, was fixed and returned in 4 weeks. Suggestion for Ridgid. Replace compressor when customer brings it back for repair. I had to buy another compressor to use while my damaged one was being repaired. I will not buy another Ridgid tool..... I hope that the repaired compressor will last for years to come but I,m not counting on it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolutely frustrating I bought this in May of 2013, and it has a three year warranty. After one year, it did what others had mentioned. It pops a 20 amp breaker as it builds up pressure, and pops the reset button on the back of the motor. When I am using the upper tank only, the motor cycles of and on like it should for 4 or 5 times, then pops breaker. When I flip the air supply to the bottom tanks, breaker pops as unit struggles to fill up all tanks. When this happens, the air regulator/ on off switch bleeds all of the air out of the tank. Rigid wants the receipt for the repair at the nearest repair shop (80 miles away), and I cannot find it. Grrrr This compressor is Junk, not dependable, and frustrating customer service.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from less than happy The overall design was the selling point. Only a few months and probably 50 hours of run time total and the compressor only generates 125 pressure. No big deal right? wrong. Compressor won't shut off by itself and 2-3 weeks to have it repaired. Now I have to buy a replacement while this one gets warranty work done. I could have bought 3 throw away compressors that lasted 100 times longer than this.
