Answer:
I have two different size 18V li-ion batteries, 1.5AH and 3AH and the light works with both. I don't know if it works with the Ni-Cad batteries though.

Answer:
Home Depot carries a couple different 9w florescent bulbs in stock that fit. Bring the bulb with you to HD to compare. As long as it fits and is under 9w it should work fine. The CREE 9w LED bulbs work if you break the glass enclosure off the bulb. Its the 60w equivalent on the LED, and 40w in CFL.

X3 Job Site Light Console (Tool Only) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 58.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice tool The light was easy to assemble it takes a standard 9 watt fluorescent bulb....I really like it...puts off no heat. I'm a plumber and used it twice today working under kitchen sinks in 2 different locations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great work light! I have 4 of these lights, and they work great and light up a room no problem. Its nice that they accept my 24v batteries as well as the 18v. The CREE LED light bulbs Home Depot sell are a good replacement if you don't want to use the CFL bulb. Stay under the 9 watt rating and remove the glass dome, super bright and will probably out last the actual light fixture itself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from better than expected I purchased this as a general work light and it is a nice compact size with a well thought out design. You can hang it or place it on a flat surface as general lighting. What really impressed me about this light was during hurricane Irene, we lost power and this little light let me keep the room lit bright enough for us to see easily and was small enough to carry around. I have the larger capacity ridgid batteries for my tools and they gave me a decent run time. If you have other 18v ridgid tools, this light is a great addition, that one night of use was worth the purchase price alone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from well built This light works well and last a little over 3 hours with my lithium ion batteries, i do not have the high capacity. I did change out the bulb. I dont like the yellowish color from the 2700K bulb it comes with so i put in a 5000K that has a nice white color which also picked up 50 lumens over stock. I also purchased a magnet with a hook on it so i could hang the light basically anywhere while i work. The light is well built and feels solid. I'm happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great lantern This is a great light you can put any type of standard CFL that fits or you can do like I have done I used a 60W equivalent LED torpedo bulb it uses on 6 watts of power and the battery last even longer than the CFL bulb.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from awesome I work for a fire water restoration company and am frequently out in the middle of the night. This light goes everywhere with me. I can light up entire rooms or outdoor walkways. This thing is a lifesaver in more ways then one. Way more light then the newer LED model. Bulbs are standard CFLs and very easy to come buy. Ive used 3 in five years of heavy use. Only change because they have broken when the light has been dropped. Only takes a minute to change the bulb and im back in business. Very durable. Battery lasts hours and im using an old 3ah. Im thinking of ordering a second one in case they stop making it down the road.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good light, from a great system. Nice versatility from this 18 volt battery system. Well designed with an extendible hook and the light swivels from flat against to extended away from the body of the unit. It uses a 9 watt 120 volt bulb, not a 9 volt bulb as seen on a previous review. Easy replacement. As with any CFL it takes a bit of time to fully "warm-up". I hope they develop this system more, like the lower quality Ryobi system. I currently have 12 pieces of the system and will buy more as they expand the line.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AWESOME I love ridgid and this light is great. I use it daily, it's super versatile. I do cabinets and sometimes in bathrooms I need a light, so I'll hand it on an electrical wire for a light in the bathroom and it lights everything up no problem. It's pretty tough too. And on the smaller 18V batteries it will run for at least a couple hours. On the bigger one i let it run for three hours and still had a couple bars left on my battery. Only problem is that if you knock it around the bulb may break, but they're cheap bulbs, about $1 a piece. normal light bulb socket size.
