Is no. 1 low speed or high speed

Asked by: Anonymous
low, as suitable to avoid trashing screws being driven, while high is likely to destroy what it's working on because of "excessive torque" according to the instruction manual

does the battery have a 3 year warranty only or the LSA warranty?

The spec said 3 yearLifetime Service Agreement with tool registration. What does it mean by 3 yearLifetime Service ? Does the LSA cover the batteries, hammer drill and the impact driver (came with this package deal) or the battery has 3 year warranty and other units have LSA. Need some clarification.
Asked by: Anonymous
If you buy the battery alone it will have 3 years warranty. If you buy the battery with, for example, a kit ("they said an elegible product")AND ALSO ENTER TO RIDGID.COM, inscribe your product and send the original receipt, with the original upc, and a printing where you inscribe the product, to the address that they give you in the site, it will have a LSA warranty. Once they verified your documents, they send a notification about the inscription in the LSA plan. And yes, in this instance, include the batteries!!! The following is a copy and paste from the Ridgid site: RIDGID® Brand Hand Held Power Tools, Stationary Power Tools, and Pneumatic Tools are automatically covered under a 3-year Limited Warranty. This 3-Year Limited Warranty begins from the date of purchase shown by a valid receipt. If a valid receipt is not available, the 3 year limited warranty period begins from the date of manufacture on originally purchased equipment. For batteries and chargers, if the receipt is not available, and the battery/charger serial code differs from tool console more than 12 weeks, the origin of the battery/charger cannot be verified. In this case, the tool serial code must be used to verify warranty, NOT the battery/charger serial code. Note that all accessory batteries and chargers sold separately must have a valid receipt to verify warranty status since they are not sold with a tool console in a kit. Lifetime Service Agreement The original purchaser of an eligible product may elect to register for a free Lifetime Service Agreement. To accept this Lifetime Service Agreement, you must register your product and submit proof of purchase for processing approval as described below. The Lifetime Service Agreement provides the original owner of qualifying RIDGID® Brand tools a lifetime of free replacement batteries, free service and free replacement parts subject to the limitations set forth below. The Lifetime Service Agreement is available free of charge, on all eligible RIDGID® Brand hand held power tools, stationary power tools and pneumatic tools, subject to the terms and conditions stated below. Customers have 90 days from date of purchase to register tools for the Lifetime Service Agreement. Once all conditions of the registration process are fulfilled, the tool’s service coverage lasts the lifetime of the original purchaser. The Lifetime Service Agreement status on a tool is not transferable to persons other than the original purchaser. Note: The RIDGID Lifetime Service Agreement is only available for eligible RIDGID tools purchased at THE HOME DEPOT.

Will this handle a 5/8" drill bit (3/8" shank) drilling a 2 1/2" deep hole in my garage slab?

Asked by: Anonymous
I haven't gone to 5/8", but did do ½" and it worked well. When drilling into concrete with either this drill or my much larger corded drill, I always start with a smaller bit to drill to the depth I want and then enlarge it with the bigger bit. It's usually faster, even counting the time to change bits. Be aware that rocks and rebar will really slow you down. In fact, it's likely rebar will destroy the carbide tip on your masonry drill. If you live fairly far from the store, keep a spare on hand. Drilling into concrete blocks is a breeze, by comparison!

X4 18-Volt 1/2 in. Cordless Hammer Drill/Driver Kit is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 45.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough enough I'm hard on my drills. Drilling through block ,brick, concrete, metal. I'm the guy that pushes hard to get the job done. the only thing i get from the drill is that it wants more. It's great to have a tool that puts out as much a I give it. I've dropped it, kicked it, and put in battery after battery, working it as hard as i can. It doesn't overheat, it doesn't stop, doesn't drop the bits. It just keeps putting out. It sits great in my hand and is well balanced. It's not too heavy and it's got alot of torque. I enjoy the hammer option, drill option and screw option. All in all, this is a great drill.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Drill !!! I am a HVAC technician. Over the years I have used and broken almost every name brand drill out there. The Ridgid Hammerdrill is superier in every way. I actually have to use the clutch or it will break the screw heads off. The LEDs are brighter and I don't have to wonder how much battery life I have left because the batteries show you. Chews through masonery with ease. To get all this and a Lifetime Guarantee means this will be the last drill I ever own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from INCREDIBLE DRILL!! I have had this drill for a month now. The battery life is incredible, the comfort is outstanding, the power is unbelieveable! I have 6 Ridgid cordless drills, and this one is by far longer lasting and more powerful. I no longer take my 24V Ridgid hammer drill to construction sites, this 18V drill handles it all! It handles the construction job site with no issues, other contractors ask what drill I am using. The new X4 line that they came out with is amazing, if you need a impact drill the matching X4 is amazing as well!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy to maintain This battery is super awsome and will last longer on a charge than any other battery I have ever used. I have had Dewalt, and Craftsman and got rid of every single one of them. They just did not measure up to the performance of my beloved ridged tools and batteries. Super fast charges and the charge will last all day. I screwed every board on a 40'L x 15'w deck with railing with just the full charge of one battery. Will NEVER buy or use any other cordless or corded tool other than a RIDGID!!!! They are #1 in my book.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well-balanced product, with ample power. Bought this hammer-drill to replace a Milwaukee M28 hammer drill. I was genuinely surprised by the power and durability of its batteries. The drill is well-balanced and it has held well through a recent plumbing installation where I used it to drill across joists and studs; it did not bog down once, even when using a 2 1/2-inch hole-drill. I have registered the product and I am expecting confirmation of Ridgid's Lifetime Service Agreement. Once confirmed, I can expect many years of satisfactory service at no charge to me. This is a remarkable offer as batteries, including my former M28 set, eventually wear out and their replacement imposes a heavy penalty on the pocketbook.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product, great battery life, nice combo So found this in a kit at the store as a Hammer Drill, Impact, 2 high capacity (3 amp hour) batteries, and charger. Hadn't seen this kit before, only the non-hammer drill version with smaller batteries. If you see one grab it fast. For the drill: Ownership: 1 Month Pros: Worked great for 7 days of barn building, batteries performed beyond expectation with fast charge times (aka ready after 30 min lunch), love the chuck, adjustable clutch was reliable and repeatable, great balance, and LED in the base is a nice touch when squeezing the last minutes of daylight. Cons: Really wish it had the belt hanger like the impact and smaller drill does - missed that a lot when working off a ladder, carry bag really wasn't up to par with metal frame tearing out the side

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a difference a RIDGID makes! Ok, this is my first Ridgid ever. I have previously owned Craftsman Pro, Ryobi, Hitachi and DeWalt to name the more well known stuff. This is industial grade here. I still have one cordless 18V Ryobi (the blue kit) and started my weekend project with a full charge on both drills. I used the Ryobi to drill starter holes and then the Ridgid to do the heavy work removing 3" screws from my pool deck and drilling the new screws in. Along with this I removed the sagging, lame excuse of a back yard gate and installed a new custom one. I was just amazed when my Ryobi quit on me after 3-4 hours of on-and-off again drilling into wood. The new X4 Ridgid lasted over 6hrs on Saturday (pool deck) and 3-4hrs on Sunday (gate). Keep in mind that this was on-off. Wow! The power in this drill, even with the clutch set was sometimes enough to drill straight through my dog ears! No lacking of power to pull those long screws out or in, even when the battery was on its final indiactor light. My Ryobi could barely pull 2-3 of these screws out...what a disappointment compared to the new drill. I am still AMAZED!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vast Improvement The drill does a very good job and can hamndle most things you throw at it. I would like to see a little more battery life/ size so you could almost truly replace a corded drill. Maybe come with a thrid battery and dual charging station for two batteries at the same time.
