does it work off of 110V AC also?, Does it have an on board charger for the 18V DC batteries?

Seems like an awful lot of money if it doesn't have the above features!

Customer Reviews

X4 18-Volt Cordless Jobsite Radio with ShockMount Technology is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 58.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Needs Built-in Charger Radio works and sounds well however it could be better. After reading other reviews it seems that I am not the only person out there that would like to see a battery charger added. I am tired of having to have a battery charger plus the radio plugged in order to keep working, and listening, all day.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from We want chargers! This product is excellent for job-site dance parties. It sounds great and looks cool too. But, when it's time to actually get some work done, it would be extremely nice if this radio would charge batteries. Does Ridgid plan on making a radio/charging station? They would sell like hotcakes.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from The mute brute This review is for the newer, Bluetooth version (since they do not list it online yet). I work in a loud welding shop and this radio can not be heard. I could hear everyone else's radio (from up to 50 feet away) over this radio. The sound quality is actually decent and free of distortion, but you just can not hear it in a real production environment. Probably fine for some trades, but not for a metalworking shop.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Worth the Money This is a basic radio! Not suitable for job site requirements. It has no additional plug outlets and will not charge your ridgid batteries. Strong design but no features that make it worth the while. I give it 2 stars as you can play music and it is tough but otherwise worthless.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great job sight radio!!! I run nothing but rigid tools so this lil guy fit right in with everything else on my trailer. Plenty of presets for your favorite stations, great reception, will run almost two full days on a rigid battery, it does have a remote that controls both radio and iPod but the iPod Dock is made for the old still iPod I use an old nano and it works great, $15 adapter from best buy and my iPhone 5 plays great as well. Only complaint is I can't charge a rigid battery when plugged in and it does not display the iPod info on main screen. But over all great radio with great sound can put in one room and can hear it in any room of the house!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needs built in battery charger Sounds good and is durable, but for this price it should include a built in battery charger as well. Sometimes receptacles are at a premium on job sites and only having to have one thing plugged in can be a life saver. Was my favorite feature when I had my old dewalt set. If they would add this it would be a 5 star buy for sure.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well built. Great radio, Wish it could charge batteries as well as play off them as it does. Only issue I have is the front display doesn't latch correct and is hard to see when sun is out. However holds up well to job usage and can pile stuff on top without harming radio.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A couple of fixing will do This radio has some of the best reviews out there. The 3 big complaints are 1 Battery charger. A few of us know there is some copyright thing with another company and there are hefty costs to include the charger into the radio. I agree this is bad for sales if Ridgid does not pay to include it. I know they would have enough sales to cover the cost of including the charger being I am also one that waited and waited. After speaking to a rep about it and told not to count on it happening anytime soon, I thought can I live without it? Well yes I can, do I want to, no I dont. Is it a deal breaker? To a lot of people? yes it is. Would it be worth it for Ridgid to include it? I say yes. The radio is an important item out on the job. It makes the time go by faster and your employees are more productive. The radio becomes one of your most important tools. If it has the functionality of being a charger then that is one less thing we have to carry around. I love my Ridgid tools, I love the LSI warranty. The tools are solid and strong. The radio is important to me and my workers. 2nd is the remote control. If you work at home or a shop this would be a really good plus to put the radio on the shelf and use the remote for it. But if your putting it on the shelf then you shouldn't be the one to complain about it having a charger either. you can always get the Christmas tree light remote to turn on and off the radio. 3rd issue is the ipod or bluetooth issue. This was a big one for me since I didn't want to go out and buy an ipod for music when I was working in areas without a good station to come in. I saw that the radio comes with a connector to plug into your phone with a 3.5mm jack. It also has a USB port that will charge your phone at the same time with it plugged in or the battery. I thought this would work until I realized I need to have my phone with me for calls. My solution was a visit to Best Buy and pick up a Bluetooth receiver that charges with a usb. it fits into the side and disappears with the door. With this all said, other than the charging issue, this radio has the best reviews on the web. I will vouch for it since I use the high volume all the time. Other brands are also good, but this one has the best sound and clean. It does not have a lifetime warranty but only a 3 year. But you have to register to get it. As with any and I do mean all electronics, there will be failures. Don't expect it to live forever. Nothing does. This is a very good value now that it has come down in price. TTI please think about sales and include the charger. I personally could have sold 2 full kits and a radio if the radio would just charge a battery. your Ryobi line has it and I know that is because of sales to the homeowner. Let us workers that rely on your tools for a living also be proud!
