Answer:
I have found no problem with any of my batteries charging on the R840087. It sounds like you have some fine dirt particles in your charger or the battery you are charging. Use an air hose and blow both items clean. Hope that helps.

Answer:
if your battery's are older then the charger then the battery's need to be replaced, the battery's dont last for ever maybe 5 yrs with heavy construction use, if not then you might have dropped the charger and damaged it inside you will have to get a new a new charger.
or find someone with that type battery's and charger and try your battery`s on their charger and your charger on their batterys

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in RIDGID.
As long as the charger is powered, it is ready to accept and charge a battery. If it is disconnected from a power source, it then shuts down.
Regards,
RIDGID

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 25 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fast Charger My Dual Chemistry Charger came with an old drill driver kit I got 4 years ago and it's faster than a new compact charger I got in a kit 7 months ago by a large margin! This charger keeps my old batteries, new 2.0 amp batteries and my 3 big 4.0 amp batteries charged up and ready to go so I can keep my 18 volt Ridgid arsenal running forever!!! August 1, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good upgrade This charger is much quieter and easier to use than my old NiCad charger and it handles both NiCad and Lithium batteries. The indicator lights are easier to see and understand. Only downside is it only does one battery at a time. January 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great. Best brand in the market. I will definitely keep buying them. January 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Charger Rigid has great products and awesome warranties. The only negative comment I have is their lifetime warranty offered on most of their products should be offered on the Chargers and batteries thatxarecsold separate from the kits. These products included in the kits have a lifetime warranty why not offer it across the board? December 8, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Battery and battery life I have a complete line of the 18v battery operated tools that I use frequently. I am a contractor and I enjoy using the battery tool that allows the tool to go anywhere. The issues I am having now, is it seems like all the batteries I have (3 total, 2 of the 3.0Ah and 1 of the 4.0Ah) are going bad at once!!!! Is there no way to replace what is needed to make these new again? I spent a ton of money and I plan on purchasing a couple of more tools to completed my needs, but if I am going to continue to have problems with batteries, them I may as well go to a different brand. The batteries do not give any warning to when they start to go bad and with all three going bad at once, is not good; especially if you are many miles from utility power. The tools are great and I have had no issues with them, they are made tough and solid. I just need something I can rely on for the battery. Good thing I pack a generator!!!! November 28, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Satisfied Customer After a co-worker accidentally threw my charger out with the trash, I needed one ASAP, placed an order online and received it within a few days....saved me the 50 mile trip to the local Home Depot. September 5, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quick and long lasting charge Snap it in and a full charge happens very quick. A couple of hours max, maybe? September 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by good charger This charger, compaired to others, is priced low and offers the same results in charging... My first one broke due to being rough on it but the low price, to get a new one, didnt hurt me financialy. July 7, 2015
