The impact driver is the X4. The batteries are the standard 1.5 Ahr. The drill is from the Fuego line.

I think the "X4" is simply the model or style of the battery. The basic set comes with X4 batteries but they are only the 2.0 Amp hours not the better 4.0 Amp hours.

There are a few different X4 Hyper Li batteries offered; 1.5 & 4.0ah. This kit includes (2) R840085 1.5Ah Lithium-Ion batteries. The newest batteries to the Ridgid market are the 2.0 which look slightly different but are cross-compatible.

Why is this listed as 179 and says comes with free radio when the two piece drill driver set is 139? From what I was told by HD chat and what I read they have the same drill, driver, batteries and the only is the "free radio" and a $40 jump in price. Am I wrong? Shouldn't the price for the three piece be 139 if the radio is free?

The real reason it says "free" is because any free or promotional equipment is not eligible for the lifetime service agreement. So basically it's only covered for three years...see verbiage/link below. Makes sense, that is a long time to cover a radio. I will say though that little radio pumps out some sound for its size.

If you will notice, the 18-Volt Compact Drill and Impact Driver Kit (without radio) is on sale thru 3/31/2015 for $139.00 with a regular price of $179. I would presume that once it returns to its $179.00 price, then the radio in the two kits would be "free" since the kits would be equal in price.
I do agree that the term "free" should be removed from the product description in any case. It just states Read More

Hi Mark,
Sorry to hear that. It looks like you can give HD your email and they will email you if they get the kit back in stock. But this may have been a promotional kit and might not be offered again for some time. I would call customer service to see if you can get more information.

X4 18-Volt Hyper Lithium-Ion Cordless Drill and Impact Driver Combo Kit (3-Tool) with Radio is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 665.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great Drill / Driver.... LOUSY Customer Service. I purchased this set a couple of months ago for use around the home on some remodeling projects. The drill and driver have been fantastic.... easily outperforming some of my friends other brands of similar tools. Based upon this I would have gladly given the set 5 stars. HOWEVER.... one battery just stopped working after being used in the radio for several hours. It will not take a charge and is shown as 'faulty'. No big deal... just return it under the 'lifetime' program. NOT A CHANCE. Not only have I made multiple calls to RIGID and 3 trips to HomeDepot.... even under warranty the Store Manager can't seem to get RIGID to exchange the battery (which still looks new and has NO apparent damage) . Buyer beware... there is NO support on this company. (note... their Facebook page is locked... Yet Dewalt, Craftsman, etc. all allow customers to post directly.... wonder why RIGID is afraid of what people say about them!)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from easy to use and powerful product is light weight, and easy to use. both the drill and impact driver have plenty of power. battery's charge quickly, but the battery life is not as long as i would like. the work light is nice and bright., and i like the fact that you don't have the trigger the tool to activate the light. the only drawback that i see is where the light trigger is located you trigger the light almost every time you pick up the tool. not a real big deal just something i noticed. the radio works well to. i like the fact i can plug in a mp3 player to it so i'm not just limited to radio stations. i was also impressed with the sound , and volume that came out of that little thing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from RIDGID VS MILWAUKEE I bought this product to replace an old Milwaukee thinking the lifetime warranty would be worth the possible decline in performance. I was wrong. To sum up everything i would simply say this Ridgid set is a great home owner grade product, definitely not professional grade. I used this set for several weeks and it just seemed inadequate. Although, I did love the little radio. I then bought a Milwaukee impact combo kit so I could directly compare the two. Summary.... Milwaukee ran in more screws and lag bolts per battery and it also ran them in much faster. When you combine that with the fact that the Milwaukee battery charges in 30 min compared to 60 min for the Ridgid there is a big difference in work that can get done!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tools- LSA registration burdensome Love the impact driver never owned one before. Lifetime Service Agreement requires many hoops to jump through, and maybe that is the point. First you must go on-line and register the product, make sure you keep your receipt and packaging because you'll need the CPUs, serial numbers etc. Then you'll get an email in a couple of weeks telling you the registration is not complete and you will need to mail in copies of the receipt and cpu off the package certified mail. Yes certified mail. Call me crazy but you would think returning the tools for service or replacement with your receipt would suffice.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Craftmanship not so good I bought this drill as a package deal for about $180 from home depot. I've had this drill less than a year and the chuck / gears broke while trying to drive 2" wood screws. I remember the sales person saying it's a great drill for less money than a dewalt. Just bring it back if it ever breaks and exchange it 3 year warranty. Well it did break and what's even worse is trying to return or exchnange. First tried a home depot close to my work on Hwy 6. Customer service was absolutley no help. They told me to go to another store on Hwy 6 where they could repair it or exchange it. Again no help; did absolutely nothing for me. So in my opinion the service at these two stores is less than poor and as far as the drill is concerned sometimes you get what you pay for. Sure am glad I had my dewalt to finish the job.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not believe Ridgid Warranty Hype My "lifetime warranty" batteries failed in a little more than a year and Ridgid told me I had to take them to a service center over 100 miles away. Useless.
Date published: 2014-10-31
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very poor customer service by Ridgid As a contractor, I used these on almost a daily basis. I was satisfied until I needed the impact driver repaired. Out of four service centers listed in the Tampa, FL area, only one was still in business. They had my impact driver three weeks and said it needed a motor. Ridgid is out of these until the end of March and would not replace my unit or provide a loaner. As a contractor, I can not do without such an important tool for over three months.
Date published: 2015-02-12
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for a contractor/ Save your money I've had my set for over 6 months, and I'm very disappointed. Impact driver Battery lasts only 20 minutes max and under continuous work load less then that. Not for a contractor , more home use type projects. Drill will max out ( torque out) and not spin under heavy load. Constantly changing batteries and wait for them to charge . Radio works great though . LOL Save your money , going back to DeWalt myself.
