Customer Questions & Answers

Do all parts of the 3-tool combo kit fit into the bag that comes with it? Including the radio?

Asked by: Spoony
They do, but you kind of have to work at fitting them in there. I'm not sure it's really intended for the radio to be in there, though it will fit.

I plan on buying this set for use around my house. Once in a while, I will have big projects but mostly I will be using it sparingly. How is the battery storage on this? Should I charge them every so often when not in use or just once and leave
Asked by: smitz327
There are a few guidelines found in the Owners Manual to follow for the 18 volt Lithium-Ion battery packs. Remove the battery pack from the charger once it is fully charged and ready for use. For storage longer than 30 days: 1) store the battery pack where the temperature is below 80°F and away from moisture; 2) store battery packs in a 30% - 50% charged condition; and 3) every six months of storage, charge the pack as usual

Are the two batteries in the box fully charged? If no, how long for a full charge on the initial charge? How do I know when they are fully charged?

Asked by: Anonymous
Mine were not fully charged, it took about an hour to fully charge both of them.

X4 18-Volt Hyper Lithium-Ion Cordless Drill and Impact Driver Combo Kit (3-Tool) with Radio is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 667.

Don't know if it's the drill or the batteries, but I never could get a 3.5 in hole saw to go through 3/8 OSB without the drill stopping several times. Forget trying to use a hole saw cup on anything thicker. Finally couldn't take it anymore and bought a DeWalt drill which cuts like butter using the same 3.5 hole saw cup.

Drill is meh Support = rage. Cant give a product more than 1 star with terrible support given how frequently these break.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from easy to use and powerful product is light weight, and easy to use. both the drill and impact driver have plenty of power. battery's charge quickly, but the battery life is not as long as i would like. the work light is nice and bright., and i like the fact that you don't have the trigger the tool to activate the light. the only drawback that i see is where the light trigger is located you trigger the light almost every time you pick up the tool. not a real big deal just something i noticed. the radio works well to. i like the fact i can plug in a mp3 player to it so i'm not just limited to radio stations. i was also impressed with the sound , and volume that came out of that little thing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tools- LSA registration burdensome Love the impact driver never owned one before. Lifetime Service Agreement requires many hoops to jump through, and maybe that is the point. First you must go on-line and register the product, make sure you keep your receipt and packaging because you'll need the CPUs, serial numbers etc. Then you'll get an email in a couple of weeks telling you the registration is not complete and you will need to mail in copies of the receipt and cpu off the package certified mail. Yes certified mail. Call me crazy but you would think returning the tools for service or replacement with your receipt would suffice.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great Drill / Driver.... LOUSY Customer Service. I purchased this set a couple of months ago for use around the home on some remodeling projects. The drill and driver have been fantastic.... easily outperforming some of my friends other brands of similar tools. Based upon this I would have gladly given the set 5 stars. HOWEVER.... one battery just stopped working after being used in the radio for several hours. It will not take a charge and is shown as 'faulty'. No big deal... just return it under the 'lifetime' program. NOT A CHANCE. Not only have I made multiple calls to RIGID and 3 trips to HomeDepot.... even under warranty the Store Manager can't seem to get RIGID to exchange the battery (which still looks new and has NO apparent damage) . Buyer beware... there is NO support on this company. (note... their Facebook page is locked... Yet Dewalt, Craftsman, etc. all allow customers to post directly.... wonder why RIGID is afraid of what people say about them!)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from RIDGID VS MILWAUKEE I bought this product to replace an old Milwaukee thinking the lifetime warranty would be worth the possible decline in performance. I was wrong. To sum up everything i would simply say this Ridgid set is a great home owner grade product, definitely not professional grade. I used this set for several weeks and it just seemed inadequate. Although, I did love the little radio. I then bought a Milwaukee impact combo kit so I could directly compare the two. Summary.... Milwaukee ran in more screws and lag bolts per battery and it also ran them in much faster. When you combine that with the fact that the Milwaukee battery charges in 30 min compared to 60 min for the Ridgid there is a big difference in work that can get done!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Craftmanship not so good I bought this drill as a package deal for about $180 from home depot. I've had this drill less than a year and the chuck / gears broke while trying to drive 2" wood screws. I remember the sales person saying it's a great drill for less money than a dewalt. Just bring it back if it ever breaks and exchange it 3 year warranty. Well it did break and what's even worse is trying to return or exchnange. First tried a home depot close to my work on Hwy 6. Customer service was absolutley no help. They told me to go to another store on Hwy 6 where they could repair it or exchange it. Again no help; did absolutely nothing for me. So in my opinion the service at these two stores is less than poor and as far as the drill is concerned sometimes you get what you pay for. Sure am glad I had my dewalt to finish the job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product with long battery life! I was encouraged to buy an impact driver when my neighbor found out I was building a garden shed (12' X 15') in a remote area of my property. (no electricity). I went shopping and found the 18V drill, impact, radio combo. After checking on prices elsewhere, I knew I had found just what I needed. Then I discovered that the batteries have a lifetime warranty which is very important when you have battery powered power tools. I'm just about done with the building and have not broken off one head on the screws I am putting the metal on with. A fantastic tool....Just used it yesterday (impact tool) to change tire on pickup. Handled the 13/16 socket like it was nothing. VERY SATISIFIED!
