Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fabulous garden multi-tool that's perhaps misnamed I think if Rockford had called this a 1.5 pound fiberglass weeder and garden multi-tool instead of a mattock the reviews might be more favorable. With only a 15 inch handle length you won't get a lot of force behind a full swing, but still more than sufficient to cut through a quarter inch root that you've dug partially out of the ground using the pick end of this tool. It won't substitute for a 5 pound mattock but that's not what you should be using this tool for. For example, start by holding the handle very close to the head so you get good fine control and use the adze (the flat end) of the head to cut and scrape weeds away from the ground in front of you. Then spin the tool in your hand and use the pick to break up and rake a grove into the soil you've just exposed. The heft of the head makes this far easier than a hand cultivator for example and you won't have to stand up to go find your hoe to do this. Then spin the tool again and use the adze to push the dirt out of your way so you can either dig deeper, expose that big root you just found or keep moving. Find a small root that you want to cut in front of you by digging? Move your hand down the handle, pull the root tight and then aim the adze at the root where it's still in the soil so it makes cutting easier. Not having to change tools multiple times makes it faster to clear an old garden bed. The only thing this thing really can't substitute for is a dandelion weeder. It just won't dig deep enough to get at the taproot without having to move a lot more earth than is necessary. June 3, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Handle far superior to the wooden handled model which was too thin. Normally I'd prefer a hickory handled garden tool, but in this case this fiber glass handled model was much more comfortable for my hands. It is a valuable tool when gardening on the ground for smaller jobs than a full sized mattock would be needed to handle. April 20, 2016

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by pretty good garden pick we got this pick for my mom but she didnt really use it. so today i went out and cut some wood with it (not intended purpose) and it cut up the wood pretty good and so its pretty good September 14, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not good for anything but lightest use I was using this in the yard, digging holes to plant stakes for a raised bed. Hit a rock with the small pointed end and it broke. Big end worked fine, but the 1.5 pounds is too light for any real use. February 9, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by this product is poor I used the pick once and the pointed end broke and the blade end was all chewed up. September 4, 2012
