Customer Reviews

2.5 lb. Cutter Mattock with Fiberglass Handle is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very cheaply made Used it as a very light duty tool, the mattock blade BENT while I was digging in dirt. Do not buy this procuct. If you could give a half a star as overall rating I would give it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Should be rated ZERO stars Needed a medium size mattock for shrub removal close to a house. Two major flaws: 1) The part of the handle that fits into the eye of the tool is a poor mismatch in sizes. Head will not fit tightly onto the handle without a lot of movement. I sanded it to a more rounded shape, and shimmed with heavy tape to get it tighter. 2) The steel is either poor quality, or of wrong temper, likely both. The large flat blade bent with only light prying. Absolute garbage, and can't return because of the modifications. Cut up the handle, put into the trash, head went into the recycle bin. A complete waste of money. Pity, it's a handy sized tool.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy this JUNK Initially I purchased the one with the wooden handle. After two uses the handle broke at the head of the tool. So I agreed to an upgrade (which HD charged me for). I went with the fiberglass handle. This time the handle worked great, but the head bent on my first use. I was only digging up some dead tree roots. I thought this was a digging tool. This product is obviously a knock off a better brand and HD should drop the line.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy this. Steel bends quickly Do not buy this. Just as others stated, I used it few times with very little force the flat blade was bent. I owned one previously that lasted for 20 years with far more force applied and never had this problem. I should have replaced the handle on the old one had I known a new one would be a piece of junk. I didn't save the receipt so I am out the money on this one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage The others are absolutely right. This thing is garbage. The mattock blade bent very easily, and within 5 minutes into the project. It was returned for a full refund.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap steel BRAND NEW, and Mattock head bent less than 10 minutes into the job. Cheap steel - obviously NOT heat forged.
