How easy is this to cut to fix smaller areas?

What type of tool is best for the cutting if possible?
Asked by: chacha02
It cuts with a good pair of scissors. I have cut it to fit around a wall and in a strangely shaped area.

How did you work with corners?

I can imagine the "official" answer, but I'm looking for "real world" - examples of how people worked their corners. I only have one corner (an inside corner) which is located behind the bathroom door (when it is open) so it is kind of out of the way. thanks

This self-stick cove base will pop off in places unless you use very hard pressure to hold it against the wall for a few minutes. Some people have used glue to seal the places that popped off. Otherwise it works well and in my opinion is easier to use than ones that are not self-stick and need cove glue. It lasts for a years and can be easily cleaned. easy to apply if you start from one end working to the other. The instructions show you how to go around corners with the necessary cuts to be made. I replaced white with almond, the white had been on for fifteen years and was in good shape.

I then read the reviews and went ahead and used it - trying to avoid having to use wood moulding - and wondered if everyone who gave it a one star and not followed the instructions properly. It was really good - until day 3 when it started unsticking from the ends. Was able to fix it with contact cement but as a "self stick" item - mediocre.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from worked exactly as expected I purchased 2 -20 ft. rolls of this base and installed it in my mechanical room. I had read some of the "1-star" reviews before I installed it and have to say I was a little skeptical about trying this self stick product and even called Roppe Customer Service rep. who answered my questions and eased my concerns about going ahead with the installation. I laid the vinyl base out flat for 2 days, heated it a little with a hair dryer right before I stuck it to the wall, and the installation went great. No problem with it sticking to my freshly painted (Porter latex semi-gloss) drywall wall. This was my first experience with installing any kind of wall base and I won't hesitate using this one again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Based on some of the reviews I was reluctant to try this product, but I'm glad that I did. Whil... Based on some of the reviews I was reluctant to try this product, but I'm glad that I did. While purchasing this product I took into consideration all of the reviews that were dissatisfied with the self-stick adhesive and purchased a tube of Liquid Nails construction adhesive to augment the "peel and stick" adhesive of this molding. Here are some tips for success: Unroll the product and lay it flat. Let is sit for several hours. This will keep the product from trying to recoil during and after installation and causing problems with adhesion. Make sure the surface you are applying this to is CLEAN. Also make sure your floor is clean. When you are installing this product, you don't want dirt or dust to get onto the adhesive. I pre-bent the bottom of the vinyl that touches the floor. It made for easier installation later. Don't try to bend it out 90 degrees, just 45 degrees or so. I put a THIN line of construction adhesive on the wall about 1/2" below the top and above the bottom of where the vinyl is going to stick to the wall. Don't try to put the adhesive on the vinyl or else it will get on your hands during installation and it will transfer everywhere. Installing the vinyl takes a little practice but it isn't too difficult once you get the hang of it. I peeled off about 5 feet of the adhesive backing at a time and continued as I went. To install onto the wall, press against the wall while pushing it down HARD onto the floor so the part you bent out earlier angles SLIGHTLY perpendicular to the wall. Once that section is against the wall, IMMEDIATELY rub it hard with a clean rag. Push against the vinyl with a LOT of force as you rub, this is what sets the peel-and-stick adhesive to the wall. When you are all done, go back and push/rub a second and third time. It's a lot of work, especially being on your hands and knees, but you want this product to adhere well. One tube of Liquid Nails will cover about 80' feet of this product (four rolls). I'm not even sure the Liquid Nails was necessary, because all of the vinyl I installed is stuck firmly to the wall, not just where the two lines of Liquid Nails went. Maybe it was overkill, but it only added a few minutes to the installation and I'm happy with the outcome. After re-reading the negative reviews, I'm fairly convinced they either had faulty product, were trying to adhere to a surface that doesn't take the peel-and-stick adhesive, or didn't have the patience to install the product correctly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No problems I had no problems installing this vinyl baseboard. I left it unrolled for at least 24 hours before using and even heated it a bit with a hair dryer before installing, It went on very easily and has stayed attached to the wall. In fact, once it was pressed to the wall, it was impossible to reposition it. Not sure why the other reviewer had so many problems. Maybe it was old and the adhesive had dried out somewhat, or the surface was not properly prepared. I would not hesitate to use this product in the future,
