Thank you for your inquiry on the RACO floor box. This floor box kit is designed to work with standard 3-prong U-grounded 120V straight blade plugs. If you are referring to replacement ends on extension cords, the concern will be the height or length of the plug interfering with the cover and not allowing it to close once the plug is completely inserted into the receptacle.

Thank you for your inquiry on the RACO floor box assembly. The cover is brass plated and not solid brass.
The information posted in our catalog was incorrect and we are updating this information.

I installed the outlet and everything seemed ok. Went to plug something in later and there are whtle plastic pieces covering the two blade sockets. They're underneath the actual outlet cover and they seem to slide, but not enough to plug something in. Maybe safety covers, but how do I remove?

Answer:
Scott, Thank you for your inquiry of the RACO floor box. They are a tamper resistant safety feature that is not removable. They should move out of the way easily when you insert the two flat blades of the cord at the same time.

I would like to use this outlet at the foot of my bed to plug a surge protector and a coaxial connection for my satellite dish that I will store in a TV Lift cabinet. Can this floor receptacle be installed with one power outlet and one coaxial outlet?

Answer:
LogHomeDweller, Thank your for your inquiry on the RACO floor box. To install both 120V power and coaxial cable you will need a split device #RJ650BKTR made by Hubbell Wiring.

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 24 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Box looks good and works great Install was pretty simple - cut a hole in the dimensions they recommend - run wire, connect wire to box - then drop into floor. Only issue I'm having - I think the brass screws that hold the plate down are too short for what I'm doing. - My subfloor is plywood, with fiber board on top and my plate is on carpet. - I think the carpet makes the brass screw too short to get to the plywood and one of the 4 screws that came with would not connect up. - I'll find longer versions of the brass screw and retry, but for now - 3 are solidly attached, plate looks good and works great. - I'd recommend it definitely! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Product - Lousy Instructions This is a good product but the instructions are too brief and omit important information. I have wired many outlets in the past so I don't need a lot of instruction but if you have limited experience I would recommend you buy a product that will give you some written guidance. Please download and read the instructions listed on the Home Depot product page to see if they will work for you. By the way, when you cut out the template you also cut through the instructions because they are on the other side of the paper. So either make a copy of the template or print it off the Home Depot web site. October 1, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great choice for a floor outlet This is a great floor outlet. It looks nice on wooden floors. A plus is the plug goes down into the box, allowing furniture to be placed directly over it. Installation was easy. Only drawback, and it's only a small one, is the door is a little hard to open. Not a big problem as you probably won't be opening and closing it often. December 4, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked for me I wanted a floor box that allowed only the cord to "stick out". My electrician recommended this. It is just what I wanted. He explained he quit using it because it required significant extra labor to do the cutout (not a standard rectangle) and as others have noted the cutout in the directions is too large (a real fail by the manufacturer to correct). But he said it was an excellent choice and since I'm on cost plus, it's my decision. But the box was less than the other 2 choices my husband found on line! I think I will be net the same cost all in box & labor. So I get what I want. I also was satisfied w/my first time ordering on line to pick up at my/our nearby store. Like that too. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Classy addition to wood floors. The included pattern makes for a proper fit and the adjustable box height fits most all flooring applications. The outlet could be a bit better, a bit more rugged. The included hardware covers all fastening and grounding nicely. Each time I install these, they are a hit. February 3, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good item and price This item was great. I looked at several similar items on line and this was the best with the best price. October 7, 2014
