Product Overview

The RadonAway GP Series radon fans, intended for use as a component of an active soil depressurization (ASD) system for reducing radon, provide versatility and a broad performance range focusing on drawing pressure in moderate to tight soils when less air movement is necessary. They are ideal for use when multiple suction points are necessary. The GP401 creates slightly higher pressure than the RadonAway GP301 radon fan. The GP401 fan is suitable for new construction and retrofit systems and for existing fan replacement. It can be mounted inside or outside on 3 in. or 4 in. Sch. 40 PVC pipe using 3 in. x 3 in. or 3 in. x 4 in. flexible couplings. NOTE: When installing an ASD system for radon reduction, any openings, major cracks and penetrations in the building slab or membrane must be sealed. Fan sizing for retrofit may require professional diagnostics and design.
  • Quiet operation
  • Water-hardened motor
  • Seams sealed under negative pressure to inhibit radon leakage
  • Engineered thermoplastic housing
  • 3 in. diameter ducts for use with 3 in. or 4 in. pipe
  • Electrical box for hard wire or plug in
  • ETL listed - for indoor or outdoor use (UL equivalent)
  • 4 interchangeable GP models

Questions & Answers

Overheating or defective

I just received this fan and fan stops and goes. Does this fan have overheating sensor that would stop fan when it reaches certain temp? I do have this fan installed in attic and it is rather hot there. On the other hand I have been running rp145 and fan would not stop and go like this gp401.
Asked by: Marcin
Ok, So I end up researching and answering my own question. Both fans have overheating sensor inside of the fan. Gp serious the intake temp is 80C and RP is like 120C. It turn s out I had bad luck with picking spot for suction pit. The soil was super tight and there was no air movement under ground which cause fan to overheat. I end up adding another suction point. The added air movement from second point solved problem with fan overheating.

Can fan be mounted horizontally,, without wear issues to the drive mech.????

Would like to mount horizontally inside to avoid weather exposure
Asked by: Randy
All radon fans should be mounted in the vertical position to allow condensate to drain back to the suction point. The bearings will last longer if it level and plumb.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far good Well, I managed to install my own radon mitigation system on my 1957 house. GP fan series, well, that's miss and hit. You might need to try different fans for best solution. I tried GP 501 before settling on 401. 401 produces less noise and vibration than 501. The noise might be misleading as well and might depend on soil condition. With tight soil the fan might be nosier than usual. Radonaway support is useless. They might make product but they do not know anything about it. Their response is to contact someone in the area to get help with.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This price with no cord? I even to this thing especially for a crazy price. But the fact that I have to go back to Home Depot for a cord because it doesnt come with one is insult to injury.
