Product Overview

The RadonAway GP Series radon fans, intended for use as a component of an active soil depressurization (ASD) system for reducing radon, provide versatility and a broad performance range focusing on drawing pressure in moderate to tight soils when less air movement is necessary. They are ideal for use when multiple suction points are necessary. The GP501 creates slightly higher pressure than the RadonAway GP401 radon fan. The GP501 fan is suitable for new construction and retrofit systems and for existing fan replacement. It can be mounted inside or outside on 3 in. or 4 in. Sch. 40 PVC pipe using 3 in. x 3 in. or 3 in. x 4 in. flexible couplings. NOTE: When installing an ASD system for radon reduction, any openings, major cracks and penetrations in the building membrane must be sealed. Fan sizing for retrofit may require professional diagnostics and design.

The fan is mounted in line in the attic and the outlet pipe goes through the roof and there is no cover over the pipe to prevent rain water or snow to get inside the pipe. Will this damage my fan? Where does the water go? I removed the old one and noticed some type of material was shoved in the 3 inch pvc pipe. I all ready removed the old one.
Thanks

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Replacement fan The old fan lasted 20 years. It got noisy so I replaced it with the same model. Discovered the reason for the developed noise - 3 finches had attempted to make a nest. Anyway, the new fan is okay, and was easy to install, but it has more vibration that the old one. Slightly annoying, since it is outside the master bedroom wall. I should have gotten a less powerful version, as I am certain the fan installed was overkill. June 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product - Easy to Install This motor was very, very easy to install. Don't let the environmentalists steal money from you and make you feel guilty by paying $300 for a "technician" to install. Its 2 hose clips and a few wires. It takes 20 minutes! May 24, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do Not buy from this Company Had professional Company install this fan it ran for 3 months then nothing Radon contractor tried to get warranty but to no avail. Sad !! December 12, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comes with complete warranty information. These units come with a full installation manual and the last page clearly states the warranty for this product. If you buy one and do it yourself, there is only a 90 day warranty. You get the full five year warranty if installed by a professional mitigator. December 8, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works well but.... I bought this after reading the reviews. It was very easy to install. The only issue I have with the fan is the noise. It's not crazy loud but the fan is pulling enough air from the basement that the exhaust and the fan makes a constant humming. I am not disappointed, just wish it was a tad more quiet. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by RADONAWAY GP501 PURCHASED THIS PRODUCT DECEMBER 31/13 INSTALLED SEPTEMBER 2014 AND AS OF JANUARY 2015 THIS UNIT DOES NOT WORK. TOTAL OF APPROXIMATELY 4 MONTHS WORKING LIFE. THE MAUFACTURE OF THIS PRODUCT WOULD NOT HONOR THE 5 YEAR WARANTY IF IT IS NOT PROFESSONALY INSTALLED ALSO THE WARRANTY STARTS FROM THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE NOT FROM THE TIME OF PURCHASE. THIS ITEM WARANTY IS ONLY 90 DAYS FROM THE TIME OF MANUFACTURE IF NOT PROFESSONALY INSTALLED. NO WHERE ON ANY DOCUMENTS THAT I RECEIVED WITH THIS UNIT STIPULATES WHAT I JUST DESCRIBED. I WOULD BE VERY SKEPTICAL IN PURCHASING ANY OF THEIR PRODUCT DUE TO THE LACK OF INFORMATION ON THEIR WARRANTY CLAIMES AND DURABILITY OF THIS PRODUCT February 18, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Replacement fan I purchased two of these units to replace identical non-operational fans in the house we bought. The home inspection report did not include the status of the old ones installed about ten years earlier. As the original install did NOT include either a cap or screen on the four inch exhaust I believe both rain and leaf debris caused the old items to fail. After ordering the two new fans it took only three days for delivery of the shipment. Both units (one at each end of our home) were in the attic crawlway about 4 feet from the access hatches. Installation on both was a matter of loosening two upper and two lower hose type clamps, removing the old system and re-installing the new units. I also installed two 90 degree elbows on each discharge pipe and attached a hardware cloth screen to keep out the rain and leaves. After connecting to power the operation was very quiet and not disturbing. All in all, it is a good product and easy to install. April 2, 2015
