Product Overview

The RadonAway RP145 is the most popular radon mitigation fan in the industry, is intended for use as a component of an active soil depressurization (ASD) system for reducing radon. The RP145 offer higher air flow, energy efficiency and quiet operation. It is ideal for both new construction and retrofit radon systems with a slab or membrane size of up to 2500 sq. ft. This fan is designed for moderate to good air flow, working most effectively with sub slab or sub-material conditions ranging from about 4 inches of clean, size 4-6 gravel to very loose soil. The RP145 is built to resist moisture and can be mounted inside or outside on a 3 in. or 4 in. schedule 40 PVC vent pipe using 3 in. x 4 in. or 4 in. x 4 in. flexible couplings. NOTE: When installing an ASD system for radon reduction, any openings, major cracks and penetrations in the building slab or membrane must be sealed. Fan sizing for retrofit may require professional diagnostics and design.

RadonAway advertises the fan as being "ultra-quiet." Other radon mitigation fan manufacturers list the sound/noise levels of their fans in sones/decibels.

How many sones/decibels is "ultra-quiet?"

This information is needed for me to make a purchase from Home Depot.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 49 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very easy installation I have a preexisting radon mitigation system in my house. After many years of service (I'm guessing that it ran continuously for at least 10 years or more), it finally gave up. Thought I was going to have to call the original installer and pay some outrageously high bill to repair the system. Fortunately I found an exact replacement her on the Home Depot site. Just requires loosening the hose clamp above and below the fan, disconnecting the three wires and reversing the process to install the new fan. If you can change an electrical outlet, you can do this. September 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by They don't last very long These are the best you can buy, but it seems they have to be replaced too often. Maybe better bearings? Anyway, if you have to have radon fans, this is a good choice. Fits perfect. Easy to install. July 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Replacement Radon Fan This was an exact replacement for a unit that was failing, noisy bearings. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This fantastic product completely solved my Radon Mitigration problem. This product was so amazing easy to install. Home Depot had all of the supporting products in stock to make this DIY home project the best ever. The results were overwhelming. The RP145 product performed up to specifications by reducing the radioactive Radon gas levels in our house from 10 to 1. A level of 4 or greater is considered dangerous to your health. The RP145 product was the heart of this project and I am totally amazed with its performance. I was able to save over $1000 dollars by doing this project myself using available products from Home Depot. Thank you Home Depot for making this a great DIY home project. July 22, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by RA145 Radon Fan by RADON AWAY A beautifully built and functionally designed fan suited for all environments. I easily completed a indoor installation mating the fan to an existing Radon Evacuation Pipe. The kit included a basic pump with highly technical user information to ensure proper fan installation, operations and maintenance throughout the life of the product. Parts for the wiring, wire strain relief and pipe mounting were not included as there are many different options for mounting and wiring depending on the buyer's needs and fan location. I mounted the fan using flexible couplings per the manufacture which resulted in a quick and easy install along with the benefit of avoiding vibration noise. October 30, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Radon Fan Excellent product and price. Got exactly what I was looking for and it works as expected. Life is good. April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good product. Good price. Lowered my radon levels. Product came as listed. Very easy to assemble. I already had a passive mitigation system with the pipe going outside my house, so I only had to hook up this mitigation fan, and the vertical PVC pipe up the side of my house. You can find additional instructions/tips at the manufacture's website. Make sure you do your research on how to install ANY radon mitigation fan. As long as you do that, the installation isn't very hard for an average/above-average DIYer. Also, we had previously been running a radon detector and our average for 3+ months was hovering at or above 4. After installing the mitigation fan, it's been around 1, so we're pleased with the result. January 6, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by No waranty if installed by homeowner. I just called the manufacture to ask a few questions about installation, they do not have a consumer customer service line and said that if I installed the product myself, the manufacture warranty is voided. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! February 8, 2016
