1. If I want to set 6 AM and 8 PM twice a day. This unit DOSE NOT ALLOWED me to do it. Once you set 6 AM, the second starting water time can ONLY be adding 2 hours each time. Meaning, 2nd time can only be 8 am, 10 am, 2 pm, 4 pm and STOP at 6 pm. If you try to start at 8 PM, think you can add 10 hours over it to get 6 AM, you are wrong! The program will simply OVER-WRITE your decision, Stopped at 12 AM. There is no way I can program the time I like to water the lawn, where we have strict City code for what time you can water the lawn. It seems the designer never knew what a green-thumb or a plant needed, and a day is 24 hours not 12 hours! A very simple controller program will solve the problems.
2. No warranty?

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by anntonne Directions for Sequential Sprinkler Programming
Just installed and installation was per directions. - easy, but not neccessarily fast for an engineer that is not a pro installer. Sprinkler start time can be set only in 15 minute intervals, e. g., 6:00, 6:15, 6:30, 6:45. If you want sprinkler #1 to start at 6:00 AM and run 10 minutes you do not want to set #2 to start at 6:15 with a 5 minute gap, so do the following. Set the start time for all sprinkler stations that you want to run seqentially for the SAME time. Then as soon as #1 stops then #2 wiil start and so on until all stations programmed for the same start time have run for their individually set run times. The programming instructions do not make this programming for sequential operation clear - but it works.

I also had an Orbit system before. It came with the house and I had no instructions on how to set it. Even though the Orbit had 6 Zones it only let you have 2 half's setup. So you had to water the whole back and the whole front. Couldn't just turn on the drippers. This Rain Bird is SOOOO simple to setup it's stupid. I love that I can just choose a zone and hit start or an easy rain day option. And when watering more than once a day, you can setup how often it is apart from the initial start. Just not in minutes, but its good enough. I would buy this product again and will recommend it to friends. Specially if they have an Orbits.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by garmar Rainbird irrigation timer
This Rainbird brand irrigation timer is extremely easy to use. The screen has large icons and characters and is very easy to see. Programming is so intuitive, you don't need to read the directions. This unit replaced an Orbit brand timer because I had to use the instruction book every time I wanted to change its watering program, whereas the Rainbird is very user-friendly.

Easy to program without using the booklet. Very intuitive. Looks great as well.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by APickyCustomer Clock ran slow
I tried two different Rainbird SST600i controllers (one bought in 2014 and a replacement unit in 2015) and the clock ran slow on both, losing about 5 seconds a day, or about 30 minutes a year. Rainbird customer service was good about replacing the first unit, but the second unit had the identical issue. I had expected a "timer" to be able to keep time, and didn't see this issue with a cheaper timer from Orbit.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by David Goodbye Mechanical Timer
I resisted replacing my 30-year old mechanical timer because it was so easy to program: all stations and times were visible and manually changeable. But this digital timer is well designed for ease of programming, and it has large numeral readouts. No reason to even glance at setup instructions. It's designed for a protected indoor location only-- no door with seals.
My only complaint stems from the gardener mowing mid-day on Wednesdays: I would like to water all stations on Wednesdays in the evening, while watering other days in the morning. However, the programming does not accommodate different clock times on different days.

Cannot start a complete cycle (of all stations) at any time you want without reprogramming- previous models would allow you to manually start a cycle of all stations whenever the start button was depressed. If I were starting over, I'd look a bit more. Otherwise, it's easy to hook up, program, and it offers good flexibility.
