Product Overview

If you are tired of hassling with hose and sprinklers, and getting poor results from manual watering, this new automatic system is a perfect solution. The first professional grade Rain Bird sprinkler system designed for homeowner installation, it provides everything you need to keep your lawn green season after season while saving water. The system attaches to any outside faucet and includes six high-efficiency rotary sprinklers with patented Rain Curtain nozzle technology. The same sprinklers used in professionally installed systems worldwide, these rugged sprinklers deliver a rotating curtain of water with large droplets that fall quickly to avoid windblown overspray and to cover evenly from head to perimeter for reduced overall watering time. Simple adjustments for spray rotation and distance help you keep the water on your lawn and off the house, sidewalk and driveway. Controlling the sprinklers is Rain Bird's heavy duty timer with large readout screen and simple scroll settings for automatic watering any days of the week and up to two times per day. Flexible scheduling allows customizing your settings for specific needs such as watering of slopes where two short cycles will allow the water to soak in better, avoiding runoff waste. The timer also features manual buttons for "Water Now" and "Cancel" watering without affecting the program. An illustrated manual shows the 5-step installation process as well as example sprinkler placements for different lawn areas.

Power source?

Im a newbie so excuse me, but i see no mention of a power source...I assume the timer has to be plugged in? And do the sprinklers "pop up" because of the water? or is it electrical (as i dont see anything but the hose being installed)... TY

Can you add additional sprinkler heads to this system if the 6 that come with are not enough?

Asked by: Brandon
If your yard is too big, you probably want to go with a multi-zone system. Only one zone can run at a time so that should take care of your water flow rate problem.

Is this a one zone unit?

From the diagram of the system, it appears that all six heads will pop up once you set the system to go on. I am not sure if my water pressure will make all six pop at the same time. My front lawn is about 5K sqr feet and my back is about 4K. Can I purchase multiple kits to water the entire lawn?
Asked by: Harry
Yes you can buy multiple kits but you must have the minimum water pressure.I had a plumber install a 3/4/ inch line to increase the pressure.

How does the auto drain valve work?

Do you need to create additional space at the end of the run to accomodate the drained water? Are the lines automatically drained after each watering cycle?
Asked by: Tsjl98
When the water pressure drops, the valves open, letting any water in the pipes drain as long as they are at the lowest point. No need to blow out lines of you installed them right. No gravel either. The drain valve at the end has a screen that keeps dirt out. Mine work flawlessly.

Easy to Install In-Ground Automatic Sprinkler System is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 89.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from After a month install Recap review After a month install I will like to said I love this Rain Bird system. I have 2 zone install already and next year will continue the rest off the house. I'm posting picture so you can be the judge. Don't forget that its not only water you also have to fertilizer at lease twice a year and other step. I have 8 step plan for next year this year I can only do the last 3 steps. The fertilizer I use its organic made by Miloganite. Do a little research on your area what type off soil you have so you now how much water you need, its recommended 1' off water weekly but because I live on a sand area I have to water everyday and fertilizer more then twice a year I hope this helps. If not keep dragging that heavy water hose around. (I have 2 zone picture and one area no sprinkler yet see the different water and no water)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good buy/product except automated timer I purchases this package last year in the fall and installed it pretty easily. I used it all summer and it really helped my grass quite a bit fight the effects of my dogs. The sprinklers I thought would not hold up but they work quite well for a year now. However, the "water now" feature (manual watering) on the automatic timer stopped working about six months after I purchased the system. I brought the unit in over the winter as suggested by Rainbird, but one day this summer it just stopped working. All in all I am happy with the purchase but would probably buy the components without the timer since it doesnt appear to hold up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from sprinkler system for diyers This system was simple to install and works like advertised. The instructions are easy to read and the steps for installation make sense. The option for changing out the water flow heads makes for overall lawn coverage. This system comes with six heads which covers most average residential front lawns. The timer is not bulky and has lots a varying operations to fit your needs. The tubing seems well constructed and I am hoping it endures a cold winter. However, the package comes with ample tubing so if a problem arises there is enough replacement tubing for future use. I would recommend this product for diyers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easier to install than expected !!! The sprinklers cover about 16-20 ft as advertised. I bought two kits and installed a row on each side of my house. Easy to set up. Just put stakes in the ground where you want the sprayers to be, then wire tire them to the stakes and run the tubing to each stake. You can apply water to them above the ground to make sure they cover the desired area before burying the lines. Buy some extra teflon tape and a Y-connector for the water supply so you can still use a water hose without disassembly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product great but timer only worked a few minutes UPDATE . As my previously stated review my timer did not work. The day after I posted my review, a representative from Rain Bird contacted me and offered a replacement timer. He also asked that if I still had the old timer please return it . He even sent prepaid postage tot send it back. He said they wanted to find out why it did not work. I was so pleased with their backing up their product I went and bought another kit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for small yards. Anything larger will require a zoned controller. Read instructions before buying. Included in the package is a pretty good walk through of testing your sillcock capacity using a bucket in order to determine if this kit will work for you. I recommend downloading the installation guide before purchasing this product and performing the described test. If three heads on each of two lines will cover your yard, then this is a good package and a quick win. If your yard is larger than this you’ll need a different controller that lets you add additional lines and control them as another zone because you can’t add more than 3 heads on a given line and you can’t just keep adding lines unless you have amazing flow from the sillcock. Also, they barely give you enough ½” pipe, but fortunately it’s cheap enough to buy more. For me, this system works well enough, especially on zones which gives me more pressure on each (running one at a time), but for most people you probably won’t get that great of performance if you run all six heads at once unless you have really good pressure. The kit has everything you will probably need for a simple setup and is a great quick win for the average yard. My yard is too large for this and I am using a different controller than what came with this bundle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Name Says it All! This kit has been a huge time and energy saver this Spring. My lawn never got watered as much as it should've before because of the hassle of dragging the hose and sprinkler out and, more often, just forgetting. This kit includes everything needed to automate watering the lawn. With a little planning i was able to cover my entire front yard and landscaping with a single kit. Installation was very straightforward and just took a little planning, measuring, and digging to get everything working perfectly. I'm very happy with this kit and would recommend to it to anybody wanting the greenest lawn on the block with minimal effort
