Customer Questions & Answers

I want to paint my ceiling in the bathroom with this. Will the paint withhold steam from showers.

Asked by: Margie
Hi Margie, we would not recommend using Ralph Lauren Specialty Finish paint in bathrooms. Powder rooms are okay but in a bathroom where showers/steam are present would affect the paint job.

1-gal. Mica Silver Metallic Specialty Finish Interior Paint is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love love love!!! Absolutely in love with my walls! Used this to paint some grasscloth that was original to my mid-century home and it looks absolutely fabulous! Definitely recommend using a primer, but a little bit goes a loooong way with this paint. The consistency is much thinner than your typical paint.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stay away from Metallics This type of paint is extremely difficult to work with. I did not have a problem with textured drywall but on primed beadboard, the experience has been blood boiling. I'm on my 4th can and at least 7th coat and the color is still not right. As many have already written, the paint streaks badly even with a high quality roller. You cannot do touch ups, the entire surface needs to be repainted or else the new coat will stick out and look patchy in comparison to the old coat. You can only roll in one direction, there will be a visible overlap if you're going back and forth. Save yourself the money, headaches, and body aches and just buy a normal paint. You'll be tempted by the cool looking swatch but be warned, it will not come out looking like that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from RL Mica Silver This project turned out really well! We used the mica silver as an accent color for the fireplace wall in our great room. The other walls are Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray. I see other reviewers saw a green/sage...our wall doesn't look green at all. Metallic paints can be difficult to work with...Check out the videos on the RL site for helpful tips.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from wrong color The sample card looked like an off white/ pearl. As soon as I started to put it on the wall I knew it was wrong. The color is more a silvery sage. $50 wasted ! RL needs to have samples to buy for thses colores, so you can take them home & test them.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It's green. The brochure definite sells this as silver, which I what I wanted. I applied first coat and thought, well it defiantly needs a few coats to achieve the silver look. Several coats later it just looks more greenish/ sage. So disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Love this paint. It's not as silver as the picture shows. More like a sage. But it looks good and went on pretty smooth with the sprayer.
