Yes it is a bit expensive but so is dragging appliances across a new kitchen floor. You do need to reverse roll it to get it to lay flat but it works great. The seam tape sticks well. I would not use the tape on any finished surface. It will probably take the finish off.
I also cut it down and used it to protect the quartz counter tops.

Very good temporary floor protection holds up well during the finishing stages of construction.

Costs a lot but holds up really well. I bought a few rolls of Ram Board and a few rolls of the thinner floor covering for low traffic areas. There is no comparison though. Ram Board is really thick and holds up against all the contractors who don't care about spilling stuff, wet shoes etc.
Ram Board is definitely curly and takes a little bit of time to put down. If you're doing it by yourself the easiest way is to unroll it and roll it back up in the opposite direction to get the curly-ness out. I did have to use Gorilla Tape to hold each piece to the next.

We have hardwood flooring throughout the ground floor of our house. When we ordered a new refrigerator to be delivered we did not want the delivery to mar or markup our floors. This was the perfect material to lay over the floors along the delivery path. Delivery of the product was quick and just in time for the removal of the old refrigerator.

I used 2 rolls of the Ramboard protection on my new hardwood floors while moving. It did an excellent job of protecting my floors. I was surprised & relieved that it was also fairly easy to lay down by myself!

This level of floor protection isn't needed for every project but for me it was invaluable and well worth the cost. I was sheetrocking and finishing over 9' plaster ceilings on original (1923) oak flooring, using both a drywall hoist and scaffolding. Did a great job protecting the floor.
The edges have a light crease in them making it easier to fold up against the 8" baseboard. Kind of a nice touch. The only downside was convincing it to lay flat. It likes to curl up even when weighted down and duct taped. Minor thing.
