Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Jbrew Not sure how product operates. Can't get it to work.
WE purchased item on 11/30/12. It is now 1/24/13 and still awaiting to see ir product will work. Have paid over 600 to repair men to install and get unit running. Am now awaiting on air compressor unit from factory as this one was locked up from the box. Would like to recoup my 600 but i'm sure that is doubtful. I really can't recommend this product for the sheer fact that it hasn't worked yet. Thankfully we have an alternative heat source. We purchased this mini split heat unit from home depot trying to save money and now it's going to cost more than purchasing it fromi Air conditioning place. My mistake. Had the product been working as it was supposed to have been out of the box this would have been a pleasant and money saving adventure. I hope I win this 1000 dollars . Picture is of our remote which we had to send back to get another. That was step one of this process with many more and I'm sure more to come.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Randy Instructions are terrible, but product is great!
I was very frustrated with the directions, because they try to explain the way to install about a dozen different units in one book. I gave up on their instructions, and went to youtube. After about 10 minutes of watching various videos, the installation was very easy (with two people). This 18,000 btu unit works GREAT! I will probably buy more of them. It makes an unbelievable difference in our top floor family room where we couldn't get duct work for the central AC unit. I highly recommend this Ductless AC unit, and I also recommend that you throw away the instruction book and figure it out via youtube.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by johnnybgood Have a professional install a better unit
Thought i was getting a good deal on this unit. After breaking my back to install it i had nothing but problems with it, the control board went out days after puchase. then had to hire someone to install new board, and pay to ship defective board back. Two months after the one year warranty was up, the blower went out, they will not help out on the warranty if only a short time has elapsed since it has expired. $400.00 to replace blower not to mention that the unit is not energy efficient at all. Wished i would have spent a little bit more money for a better unit better warranty professional installation and more efficiency. I do not reccomend this unit.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by hellowork Save thousands by installing a split AC by yourself.
A new (R-410a refrigerant) can cost $4000 to $6000 dollars for someone else to install. This 18k kit allows anyone with mediocre electrical and pipe skills to install it for about $1300.
The instructions are not good, which is strange for a high price item.
The total length of the copper pipes and electrical cords is 25 feet.
It heats and cools. It is quiet. It saves you from wasting a window for a Window-AC, but it is more expensive than a heating and cooling window/wall-AC unit that costs about $800 for 18k.
You don't need any HVAC equipment (vacuum or guages) to install this if you can understand the basics of how the gasses are flowing through the pipes. The refrigerant is all compressed and stored in liquid form inside the outdoor condenser. The liquid flows indoors through the small pipe and then back outside through the large pipe. There will be normal air and moisture inside the pipes that you need to get out. Once all the pipes are connected, simply open the valve to the small pipe outdoors. This will cause the high pressure liquid to flow into the pipes. Wait 1 minute. Now press on the schrader valve pin outside and you should see a large cloud of white mist fly out. Let it fly for 5 seconds and it should turn clear. You have now blown out most of the normal air and moisture without expensive equipment. Now open the valve for the big pipe so it can flow back into the compressor. Now check all the fittings for leaks with soapy sprayed water. Done.

The product came within a week after I ordered it. I think the directions were very generic and if I had not watched you-tube several times on how to install I could not have install it myself. You need to be some what handy to install.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MarloweLaw Easy AC fix for space without ductwork
I have an office with very high ceilings, but no duct work. Tried an wall mounted unit, as well as a portable unit. Neither of them worked well. This easy to install ductless mini split unit is powerful, quiet and unobtrusive. Good value for the money spent, even with the installation costs.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JeremyS WORKS GREAT, SIMPLE INSTALLATION
Purchased one of these to cool/heat my sunroom. We already had a hole cut for cable TV, so we just used that one for the wires and piping. Some of the other reviewers here seemed to have installation problems, but it's pretty straightforward if you use the instructions it comes with and maybe look up "ductless mini split" online. I didn't have any problems at all, although I had a buddy help me who knew what he was doing.
Got it working in a couple hours and now our sunroom is nice and cool watching the dogs play outside. Plus it's a lot cheaper than having someone come out and install it for you or run ductwork. Good buy.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Frozen Save your money and don't buy this product
Although Home Depot is reputable, Ramsond is Not. I purchased this product in March of last year and had it professionally installed in May. As an air conditioner it worked well but as soon as the temperature dipped, the outside unit froze completely and struggled to warm the room inside. When I contacted Ramsond's Customer Service they were flippant and told me to turn the unit off for a few days.
