We purchased and installed this in our back porch in Houston, Texas. The room is over 300 sq ft and faces south. We did insulate and put in low e windows. The unit does a great job heating and cooling. Very quiet. The power cord wasn't long enough for us and there is a lot of hose, tubing and wires to secure on the outside. We should have laid it all out before we started the project. The remote is confusing. Doesn't look like the one in the instruction manual. We got it to do what we need it to do. We did not need to call a A/C person. Hubby installed it in about 2 hours. It has been installed and running for about 6 months and we have had no issues.

in the fine print under specifications, this product reflected "non-returnable". Yet -- I have been unable to get this product installed. The home depot referred installation services for A/C and heating refused to install it since I did not purchase it "through them" (these are home depot vendors). After much search, I found a first willing to give a quote -- they quoted $2,300 for installation of the $900 equipment. I found one other service provider on my own willing to provide an estimate. Once they saw the equipment, they refused to provide an estimate citing that this is poor quality equipment from China - and they do not want to be responsible for it. I cannot pay $2000+ and am concerned anyway about the quality/ maintenance, so I have just wasted $800. Home depot gave me 10% refund. Gee, thanks.

Non returnable (trust me i tried)
Arrived damaged (looked liked someone opened the box to me). After that i had no choice but to install as is. Installation was not too bad although the book was useless. The inside unit has a weird odor coming from the plastic that will not go away. No telling what its made from. The AC part works but the remote does not have a HEAT option when i cycle through it. Epic waste of money

Had this unit for a 11 months now and I worked it all Summer and worked great. The heat only a few time and it's doing great also. The room I have it installed is 270 sqft and it does a great job at cooling and heating the room. Installation was not the easiest especially since I ran the pipes 25ft straight up and this inside to the wall, but it can be done by an experienced DIY person. Since I had to run the pipes 25ft I had to call a licensed AC person to come charge it some more, but if you are only running it a short distance (under 15ft) it comes precharged so you don't have to even worry about that.
The down side is, its not very energy efficient as I though it was being only 110v. If you leave it one, it stays one unless you put it on a timer. The unit runs continuously and activates the condenser when needed, but still will run up you electric bill. After that first month, I only turned it on when I needed it and that works great since it will cool the room down in about 10 minutes.
Best of Luck,

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by dave Easy to use, remote very easy to use.
Received in two shipments within a day apart, took about 6 days. Installation very easy. Set up my Self contained as it says, only need to let air in line out, had a friend who is A/C licensed do it. Had an electrician run the power, because you need an outside switch off for the power and breaker.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hart Super Quiet and Easy to Install
The first thing that surprised and pleased me was the ease of installation. The condensing unit has proved to be amazingly quiet, so much so that my son in law, who helped install the A/C, will be purchasing one for his own home. The low 7 Amp load allows the A/C to be plugged into almost any outlet and will make it possible to connect to a portable generator should we have an extended power outage. The A/C has also worked quite well in cooling our master bedroom and bathroom along with a bit of the hallway and an adjacent bedroom. We will probably purchase one or two more ductless A/C units and eventrually replace our central A/C system . In general, we are very pleased with the Ductless A/C.

I was initially pleased with the unit, which functioned well to cool our garage office all summer. But come the first day of fall and the need to use the heat function, I discovered there is no setting on the remote to turn on the heat, and the manual shows the heat only "on some models." The specs and description from HD clearly say it's a heat pump for efficient winter warming, yet there appears to be no heat function anywhere on the unit and neither the manufacturer nor Home Depot will help me figure out if or how I can turn on the heat. Even if there is some way to climb a ladder up to the unit and turn it on there (which I have not yet figured out), not having a remote to set heat and only to cool is an insane design defect. If HD's description is wrong and it doesn't heat, they will hear from my lawyers. If there is a heat function that can't be accessed through the remote control, then this is just a very poorly designed unit that will be nearly impossible to use in the winter. Either way, spend a bit more and get a name brand.

These split type A/C units are great. Quiet and efficient. Can't believe we haven't seen these things until recently in the States. In Asia this is the way to go since decades and they only cost half of what we pay at home. Most of the brands we see in the U.S. are even the cheap Chinese built units. The better ones are Japanese, Korean, like Daikin, LG, Samsung and more (even though they may be built in China, quality control is usually better:). Just why does it have to cost us an arm and a leg while we pay hefty for installation as well since labor is much higher at home? These units, GREE, Changhoing and LG sell in Asia for around $250-$350 per set 1/2-3/4 HP). A Ramsond may sound American but is still a (most likely, cheaper?) Chinese unit. Price'm right, say at $400-$600 (9000-12000 BTU) and everybody should sign on.
