Can I use this mix to pour in a mold?I have a staked stone mold that in the thinnest spot is about .75 inches to about 1 inch.Looking for a fast set

Would like to take out of mold in less time. So I can do more castings. Also what to stain how long before I can do this? What product would you recommend?
Asked by: needhelp5862
I think it would work fine. For the stain, why not consider mixing in the color before pouring. No knowledge on staining.

how many 2" thick 1 ft squares per 60lb bag

Asked by: Lazy
1-1/3 bags should make 2, see chart for 4" thick and divide by 2. It might by more reasonable to by 2" pavers (my opinion).

If I don't finish my job in 15 minutes will the concrete harden in my bucket?

If it does become hard, how do I clean it out of the bucket to make my next batch?
Asked by: Kate
You need to clean your bucket and more importantly, your tools ASAP. If the concrete hardens in your bucket, it is not coming out easily, if at all. SIDE NOTE: The "15 minutes" set time is not incredibly accurate. There are multiple things which can affect the amount of time you get and it is VERY important to understand these before using the product. I highly suggest reading my review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Used this after the weather had gotten colder to fill a hard to reach void in an old stone foundation. Worked easier than expected using cold water and set in about 20 minutes.

This is worth Reading! The following is basic info you need to know if you are not familiar with how fast Rapid Set Products can set. If you are using this on a warm or hot day, there are a few key points to know BEFORE you get started. 1: If it is Warm or Hot outside, keep the bags of Concrete Mix in the shade or better yet inside an AC conditioned space. If the dry Concrete Mix is above 80 degrees than you are already asking for a short set time, the cooler you can get the mix (No, do not go to the point of freezing temps) the closer you will be to the directions set time. 2: Do not use warm water out of a hose. Either let it run so it turns cool, or better yet, use Ice Water (with the ice cubes melted 100%). 3: Do not use a wheelbarrow that has been sitting in the sun for hours, or even better yet, use a 5 gallon Home Depot Bucket and a paddle mixer. DON'T mix the entire bag or box, start with 1/4 of it if this is your first time! 4: If you followed the above, you can also add Rapid Set Set Control packets to the mix which will increase your set time Do you see a theme here? The temperature of EVERYTHING will have a dramatic effect on the set time. One of the reviews stated even with the Set Control product added, it only gave him a couple of extra minutes. That was probably true, BUT when you don't properly prepare / ensure everything is at "cool-temperature", there is only so much one little packet can do. Not to mention taking the above steps will help save you money as you will need to buy less of these packets. 5: The addition of the Concrete Pharmacy Flow Control product basically makes the Concrete Mix FLOW. It is really amazing how you can add a little pack (which looks like sugar but is not) to your bucket, turn on your paddle mixer, and 20 seconds later the entire product has totally transformed into more of fluid like substance. Besides those benefits, the really important one is the fact you will use less water. Water weakens the final PSI of the product a lot (obviously you need water to start the chemical process, but using the minimum needed will increase the strength of the product. Rapid Set makes some incredible products and this is no different. As with most things, understanding a few key details makes all the difference in the world. Cheers!

I patched my walkway with this and within a few hours we could walk on it. Be sure to have you steps ready when mixing it since this does start to setup fairly quickly. Easy to smooth out once poured in place. The chart on the web site for this product helped me figure out how much I needed to buy and only had 1/2 a bag left over.

After two years of using an asphalt filler to fill cracks in my driveway, most of which did not hold up. I decided last year to use Rapid Set Concrete mix. I spent the better part of a day, filling in the cracks and in a two areas, Pot Holes, their approx size, three inches deep by approx two and half foot in circumference. Yes, they were filled the previous two years with an Asphalt Filler that did not hold up. After a year, better than 95% of the cracks and both of the pot holes are in really good condition. I have many new cracks that have popped up since last year, but, this year it should not take me more than an hour. Make sure when using the Rapid Set to mix a little at a time, I make enough to fill a few cracks at a time. I use a small metal pan about 12 by 12 by 3 inches high and only fill it about half way. It will dry really fast. After filling the cracks with Rapid Set, Let it set over night. Then , cover all the areas, Rapid Set was used with a good Asphalt Sealant. Let it set for another day (A HOT DAY).I Then seal the whole driveway, The reason for covering the Rapid Set two times is to eliminate bleed thru with one coat This will be my fourth year I have been working on my driveway, if, I would have used Rapid Set in the first year, I believe I would have spent about half the time to get to this point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome fast! a rep from home depot was very nice & patience with us to show us how to use concrete mix. He mixed in a Home Depot's 5 gallon bucket and poured it in a wood square for post under my deck. It was very hot like 90's. Wow, very smooth & easy to mix for a short time. It was fine powder & off white color. Very fast to dry to become solid "rock" within 30 minutes. Whoa. It must be done asap to mix, to pour in ur project or it will be dry fast!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong and Does The Job I used this product for the first time to set a mailbox post that lost a battle with the town plow. I usually use another brand, but when I saw this available I grabbed it. It seems to have a higher psi than just about any other quick setting product sold at The Home Depot. Plus, it is truly quick setting, it takes about 15 minutes to dry to the touch. Finally, it's the only product that I purchased that was hand delivered by a sales rep. that was perfectly willing to answer any questions I had. Even though I didn't have any questions, I was quite impressed by that. The only draw back is the price; it's 4x the cost of just about every other 60lb bag I can find.
