This is about the best that it gets for quality, price, value and COMFORT! The bi-level lightfunction and firm angle adjustment, along with the fully adjustable elastic head bands gives you comfort and versatility at work in a dark service closet behind appliances or after work at the lake on the way home tying fishing knots in the dark! I rotated the headband strap to put the loop/ buckle centered at the back of my head and used it to keep the top head strap centered on top of my head. After a little fine tuning to get the strap tensions adjusted, you may find that you forget that you are wearing it, I have!
Oh, it also comes with it's own set of AAA batteries! Glad I bought two, one for work and one for home repairs/fishing. I will be getting more for Christmas gifts!!!!

Unit was difficult to set up because one of the tangs that holds the two halves of the light together was jammed. Had to use tools to pry them apart to insert batteries. After that, though, it works fine. The high and low intensities are a nice feature that didn't seem to be documented anywhere. Headstrap is comfortable and easily adjustable.

This light is great for spot work , nice bright beam . It is also very good for the dark. Has a good beam along with wide pattern. I purchased this as a replacement for another brand. This had the brightest output Home Depot carried. Along with being bright its design was more streamline than others . I'm all over the place how I use this. Installing light fixtures plugs etc, In the attic. Crawl spaces. I also use this for avaiation avionics work . Working under a aircraft panel having not to hold a light this is great.

Best head lamp ever! I use the low setting as much as possible to conserve battery life, but when I need more light the high setting provides all the light I ever need. I'm an electrician and I spend a good amount of Tim in low light areas and use the lamp almost in a daily basis. I carry it wherever I go and have found it to be superior to other head lamps because of its light weight, durability, and multi-lumen level feature.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JonS Excellent choice for headlamp
Purchased this headlamp via BOPIS order. I have only used it a few hours, but I think it will prove to be a great investment. I had another brand of headlamp that I received as a gift a year ago or so, and it got me hooked on using one for many tasks. My wife says I should have one surgically implanted in my forehead (but batteries would be hard to change there). I have become so accustomed to using one, that I really feel challenged when trying to do close work in subdued light without it. I am 68 years old, and aging eyes require more and more light to see anything sharply. My first headlamp became effectively useless because the ratchet mechanism which kept the lamp aimed in the right direction vertically lost its springiness and the lamp would just flop, aiming downward all the time. It was of excellent brightness, but it had three other switch settings for red, green, and red strobing - all of which I had no use for and would have to cycle through in order to turn the lamp on and off. This Ray-O-Vac has a much sturdier ratchet (perhaps a little too stiff at first, but that's acceptable), and just 3 switch settings - all useful: high, low, and off. I think the light unit itself is more compact and lighter than my old one was. The price on this one is also very good for what you get, considering that many others cost much more. My only complaint so far is that the switch is a little tough to operate - you have to feel around its rubber housing to find it, then push pretty hard to make it work. That may get easier with further use, I hope. I like to use 1000 mAmp-hr AAA rechargeable batteries, keeping several always in the charger, ready to swap out. I once thought that AAAs were unsuitable for this application because they wouldn't last as long as AAs, but now I see that the light weight consideration makes AAAs ideal. Thank goodness they don't require those blasted little disk-shaped watch batteries, that can't be recharged. One more thing: if the manufacturer's hype is accurate, this lamp should take a lot of abuse without breaking.

I've been using this light in an industrial setting now for about 2yrs. Very good durability and convenient to use. One buttons on/off, white light only. Don't need or have to deal with red or flashing. I'll continue to use this light for the foreseeable future .

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tomas A decent light for the price
Bought this to attach to hardhat for work in very dim areas of a powerplant. Band has to be tied to stay in place. I discarded the band and taped the light directly to the hat with VHB tape. Worked very well. Very bright. Only negative is that the on/off switch could be more easily depressed. When you're wearing gloves and protective bonnet it's a little hard to feel around for the switch and you have to press hard to turn on.
