Is this the kind of rake to be used after tilling dirt and spreading grass seed...to mix it into the soil?
Asked by: keener
Yes, But separate out the bigger rocks out first. Then use this rake to get the grass and weeds out. Hint if you till and let the sun dry out the grass and weeds they are easier to separate out, then go for the small stones and level out the soil.

Will this work as a gravel rake?

Asked by: Butcher
Yes, that is why I purchased this rake. I works very well.

Would this be sturdy enough to move river rock?

Asked by: DDaman
Probably not. I got it hooked on a tree root, jerked it (dumb move!) and bent two tines. I was able to bend them back into place without breaking, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Can this rake effectively remove seaweed from a pond or lake?

Asked by: SFath
I Have read a review that a person used it to do just that, but be careful not to "hook" any big stones as you will bend the tines.

I have owned the landscaping rake for about 3 weeks and find the product initially very useful for my existing yard as we are developing it to plant. the tines dug in and grabbed the soil well, pulling out rocks and clumps of grass was exceptional. the flat side allowed me to smooth and level the ground. The rake lasted approximately a week until I got to ground that had some narrow roots from a tree nearby. the tines caught on the roots and ultimately bent , further into the 2nd week more bent tines and less efficient product. I think that a millimeter or two more of the aluminum or possibly a durable metal core i.e. tungsten, titanium, steel to reinforce the tines would be an effective way strengthen them.

I just purchased this rake to rake the grass from my front yard after roto-tilling. I had an 18" steel rake but after I used the 36" rake WHAT a difference. It is so much faster than the steel rake. I have read other reviews that complain about the "soft tines" this rake is not designed to pull big rocks. It is made to separate the grass and weeds after tilling soil or to rake and level top soil. If you want to rake out a lot of stones get a steel rake. I like this rake and I would recommend to anyone who will use it for what it is designed to do.

One star deducted for the black handle. A black handle for something used in the sun? Really? White duct tape to save hands from being burned is indicated. Otherwise, this is a nice light weight rake suited to leveling topsoil.
