49 in. Fiberglass Handle Super Socket Digging Shovel is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 77.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the extra money I have been using this shovel for several months now and I really like it. The handle is padded for comfort and the blade has larger areas for your foot to push on, allowing for more downward force. I have cleared several large areas of grass from our lawn, one for a large flowerbed, and another for a small patio. This shovel makes short work out of clearing the top 4 or 5 inches of grass and roots. Handle seems very robust, and blade is thicker and stronger than most of the others I saw. I think it is worth the extra money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good shovel, needs stronger handle... We had a wooden handle spade and I broke it in the hard Texas clay. I had hoped the fiberglass would be stronger as well as more forgiving than the wood. It certainly is more forgiving, it bends a great distance before you realize and release it before it snaps. Needs to be a bit more stiff to help break up the soil. Good design and works great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best shovel I have ever had. I use and abuse my tools. This is by far the best shovel I've used. It is incredibly sturdy. I am 6' 2" 265lbs. I wanted something substantial to step on when digging. It doesn't twist or bend and is comfortable to use. I have now worn-out and Home Depot just replaced the 3rd shovel. It has a lifetime warranty and I'll take advantage of it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what it's supposed to... Bought this item to replace a fiberglass handle shovel that I'd had for 15 or so years. The handle on the old one got brittle and cracked at the base of the handle where it connects to the shovel. The new one looks like it is reinforced in that area and will hold up longer. Overall, a good value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seems to be a good shovel. The project I bought it for was too tough for it. The pick axe was having a hard time. If I find decent dirt it will do fine. The shovel is sturdy the foot cleats are wider than normal and have serrated holes in them to keep your boots from skidding. The handle has a long bolster and is strong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the money! By far the best shovel I have ever owned. The thick steel and integrated steps are a huge benefit to the overall performance of the shovel. It's a MUST BUY for anyone. The lifetime warranty shows you how the company stands behind the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a shovel. I just hope when it does brake I hope homedepot still sells that brand. The one I took back was a life time garentee ridged and they don't sell it anymore. Had to get a manager to swap it out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Big upgrade from the old wooden handled shovel. Lighter and sharper, and I like the big foot tread. Only used it on a couple jobs so far, but so far so good. Time will tell if it holds up.
