Product Overview

Get excellent insulation and sound reduction with Reach Air Double Reflective Insulation. It has two layers of sealed air laminated between two layers of durable reflective polyethylene. Reflective Air meets ASTM standards and complies with building code. It installs easily in attic spaces, exterior and interior walls, interior masonry walls, radiant floors, metal and steel buildings, knee walls, crawl spaces, garage ceilings and many other applications where insulation is needed. This insulation roll is 125 ft. long and 24 in. high. Reach Barrier reflective insulation products are one of the most versatile and energy efficient insulation products available. Radiant (reflective) barriers are installed in attics, walls, roof decking, and flooring. Most newly constructed homes contain radiant barrier insulation because of the proven effectiveness to decrease energy usage and cost by reducing summer heat gain and winter heat loss. Installing a radiant barrier may be the lowest-cost improvement that can produce the greatest overall reduction in energy usage and expense.

  • Reflective air2 insulation retains air longer and provides excellent insulation and sound reduction
  • Insulation is easy to install with no mess or fumes and will not cause itchy skin
  • Ideal for attics, exterior and interior walls, radiant floors, metal and steel buildings, crawl spaces, garage ceilings and many other applications

Customer Questions & Answers

How does Radiant Barrier compare to rigid foam insulation from an energy standpoint?

Asked by: Tom
Dear Tom: Great question! First, radiant barriers require you to build / create a sealed air pocket on one side. This air gap provides almost all of the claimed R value. The shiny plastic bubble wrap has almost no R value. Second, reflective products are not effective in winter because cold cannot be 'reflected' and the warmer air inside your home is not radiant. So unless you are trying to insulate a hot metal roof only in summer, standard insulation is more effective. Foam board provides the highest R value -- around 5 per inch for XPS and polyiso. Foam board is also very flammable, however, and must be covered by 1/2" wall board in any living space, basement, garage, storage space, etc. So if flammability is a concern, rock wool is a good alternative -- with R4 per inch. Rock wool is also much denser than fiberglass and is more effective at blocking air flow. Home Depot carries Roxul which is available in batts that you can use to fill stud, joist and rafter bays, plus a board version that installs just like foam board. Roxul is also great for firestopping, e.g. in a basement. With foam or rock wool, make sure you also seal air leaks -- which are almost as important as R value. Recessed lights, gaps around interior chimneys, etc. I hope this is helpful, Mark
