Product Overview

For the past 11 years, Back to Nature has been a manufacturer of safer paint and varnish removers, lead paint abatement products, and exceptional cleaning products. Ready-Strip Plus, is a unique paint and varnish remover capable of removing up to 7 layers in a single application using a stripping tool. The revolutionary Color Change feature signals the time for paint removal. The stripper is applied to the surface and turns off-white or a pale green when the paint or varnish is ready to be removed. Ready-Strip Plus is non-flammable, biodegradable, virtually odorless and can be cleaned up with water. It does not contain methylene chloride, caustic, flammable chemicals or harmful vapors like many traditional strippers. Ready-Strip Plus avoids the uncertainty associated with other strippers that are ineffective if removed too soon, or dry out and do not work if left on too long. Ready-Strip Plus eliminates the guesswork. It is a semi-paste and therefore clings to vertical surfaces.

  • Ready-Strip plus can remove most varieties of household paints and varnishes which are water or oil-based including, latex, stains, enamels, lacquers, clear paints as well as polyurethanes, etc.
  • Can be applied on a multitude of interior and exterior surfaces including wood, plaster, concrete, brick, stone, masonry, marble, metal and fiberglass, etc.
  • Ready-Strip plus will not damage plaster or wood (discolor or raise the grain) or affect any surface it is used on
  • 1-qt. covers approximately 12.5 sq. ft. (50 sq. ft. per gal.)
  • Subject to or will include a recycling fee in the following states: CA, OR, CT

I have been trying to remove paint from some chairs for quite some time...I've used paint stripper and other alternative strippers, but this by far has blown those out of the water. Tips: Follow the instructions. You want to take the stuff and apply it like you're icing a cake. Make sure there's an opaque amount on the paint you want to remove. Wait until it is white on top and light green underneath (about 1 - 1.5 hours). It should resemble snot. Then using a metal scraper/putty knife (cause the plastic ones suck for this), scrape off the goo. It may not strip off everything, but it'll get you to a happy point with your sander. I was really happily surprised by this.

I was a bit apprehensive about the "environmentally" friendly product but was very satisfied at the result. We are refinishing the kitchen cabinets and drawer faces. I liked the brush on consistency and especially liked the water clean up ! That really comes in handy during that final clean on the edges and those nooks and crannies. A little water on the plastic brush and it's gone.......nice. This product exceeded my expectations.

We let this sit overnight for 24 hours, and repeated 3 times. The lacquer was not effected at all, it wasn't hazy or even softer than before.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to Use and Fume Free! I bought Ready Strip to strip an old wooden chest which had been varnished then painted over several times. After seeing the commercial on TV, I decided to give the product a try as most of the strippers out there require tedious scrubbing and repeated applications. I was pleased to find that the product does work and does not smell at all. (I worked in my basement). However, if your item has more than one or two layers to remove you must leave the product on for several DAYS! Also, you have to apply the product in a very thick layer which means you don't get much coverage out of one quart. Overall, I'm happy with the results and the paint really does come off with almost no effort.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gave it a Go and...... I used this product for the first time today to strip the paint off the trim of my house. Couple lessons to be learned, put it on liberally and it'll do as it is intended to. Another was man, I saw multiple layers of paint underneath that did not completely come off, but I don't really care once I primer and repaint. Lastly, there is a tackiness left behind, not sure if its because of the product or just the combination of it and the old paint. Looks like I will have to go back to HD and get the larger size to do the rest of the house.
