Same issue here on my second defective unit. If I bump the unit with my palm near the gas valve it stays lit. Bump it again the pilot goes out. Manufacture states unit is defective. I am returning as I believe this unit is dangerous at this point from a quality perspective.

Due to the fact that the gas to the house was shut off for a couple of hours, it took us 1-2 minutes holding the pilot down to get it to ignite.

Have the gas company check your gas pressure after you have made sure the valve is turned completely on both inside and outside your house. I see nothing in the specifications about a "blower", it is only stated in the title. Please confirm there is a blower?

Well Jarhead ( I am a PI swamp rat from 75) the blower comes on either while heating or all the time if you set the switch that way. But you need an electrical outlet within 4 feet to use it.

Answer:
The control knob has a range from 0-5 which controls flame height and heat output. Once you set the knob to a desired temperature, the thermostat raises or lowers the flame as the room heats up or cools off.

Yes the thermostat is automatic, so the heat/flames come on and off to maintain the temperature you set. The issue we actually found is that even the lowest setting (1) is still pretty high and the heater stays on more than we wanted. It really seems like there needs to be a lower setting. Even on setting 1 or 2 the heater is on quite a bit. I guess you might be able to move the thermostat probe closer Read More

I would recommend downloading the instruction manual for all guidelines. For propane, it must be a minimum of 100lb tank and you must have an external regulator.

The heat only stays on for a couple of minutes before it goes off. The heater is placed in an open space, between the kitchen and dining room, and it doesn't even warm the space before the flames goes away. I tried turning it up and it does the same thing when I turn it down. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality at a good price This heater was far more than I expected. It's a real trooper. ..easy to start...heats fast, and looks great sitting on our brick hearth. I love the built in blower and thermostat that cycles on and off. It also gives you three choices for the blower setting, which I love...on, auto and off. Good safety features built in too. We bought it as our backup heat source during power failures, which happen more than I like here in Virginia. We also use it to supplement the electric heat pumps during really cold weather. I highly recommend this. The price is way lower than many I've looked at with less features.
