Customer Questions & Answers

Can this be mounted in a standard 2 x 4 wall (1.5 x 3.5 inch wall framing)?

Asked by: bran1
Yes. We installed ours in a 2X4 wall. It helps if you use Durock wall board/tile board (as opposed to Hardibacker), because the Durock is thicker, and gives you a bit more "fudge" room at the back of the niche - incase you need to have a bit more room for wiring, etc...

Can I mount this item so the smaller opening is on top? I see there is another model with the same dimensions with the smaller shelf on top, but their is price difference.
Asked by: KCPlumbersWife
Yes, as long as you have have stud support it does not matter the direction you install.

Is the shelf and base already slightly pitched so water doesn't sit on the tile? or do I still need to pitch the tiles a bit?
Asked by: Harv
they are slightly pitched but it is not noticeable by looking at it . I have not had any problem with water standing or pooling on the shelves.

It was easy to tile over and made a great addition to the shower. It can be installed either upside down or right side up. The small section is good for razors, bar soap or items that come in a tube. The large one will fit most shampoo bottles. An economy sized bottle with a pump on top may not fit, but it will with the standard top. All regular sized bottles should fit without any trouble.

I changed my mind and went with a 3 wall system instead of tile but before I changed my mind I had taken this out and it seems like a great product. Fit without any issues and was very easy to screw to the wall. Keep in mind there is some framing involved to install this. With that said, I ended up making my own for the other wall with some 2x3's and backer board for about $12.00. This is pretty expensive for something I realized I could make myself but if you want simplicity this works out great.
