The shade I am looking at is 36 x 72 and my opening is exactly 22-1/2 W X 33-1/2 L, which is almost twice what I need. Do I need to take it to store to get it cut or do you do that before shipping?

Hello, and thanks for your question. These are trim at home shades, so the store does not cut them. For more help on measuring and trimming, go to our website, https://redishade.com/pages/measure, for video instructions. Thank you for your interest in Redi Shade!

Answer:
A thin but strong cord runs through holes on two sides through the pleats and comes out at the bottom in the center. A mechanism on the inside of the plastic bar on the bottom locks the cords when you slide the shade up and it releases it when you grab the shade with two hands and slide it down. Very easy.

Natural Fabric Corded Light Blocking Pleated Shade - 36 in. W x 72 in. L is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 37.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product These shades are easy to install and can last for years if handled carefully. The description is misleading however. The shades are made of paper the word fabric relates to the pull cord. They darken the room but do not block daylight. Light also shines through on the sides or between shades if you use them side by side. But they are a very good value for the price. You can customize the size by cutting off both sides but you need a good sharp utility knife to do so. The instructions are included and very good. They attach to your window frame with double adhesive foam tape. If you decide to remove the shades one day, it is very difficult to remove the tape but it can be done (Google helps)

Looking at shade, on side looks like paper, the other side looks like textured paper. I called Redi-Shade to confirm I received the fabric shade. I was told the textured side was a plastic-type fiber that was supposed to be the "fabric" as described for this shade. These $20 shades I found to be a glorified version of the cheaper paper ones - far from a fabric-looking shade. Definitely not worth $15 more per shade. With some of the shades, when pulled down, there are defects in the plastic fiber that actually look like rips in the shade allowing gashes of light to come through. Too much time installing these so I will just keep up until I get around to ordering real shades. On a positive note, they were very easy to install and use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't Go Wrong! We have a front window that gets sun all day, and in Arizona I mean every day! Undecided about a permanent window treatment we deciced to try this light blocking shade. I am very impressed with the shades ability to block light, we didn't expect that! We joke about the room now being the cave! Add to that the fact that it really looks great, so easy to install and operate, we're in no hurry to spend money on anything permanent. An operating tip: to raise the shade just hold the cords and push the entire shade up. To lower, don't even touch the chords, just pull the entire shade down.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Option if you only need temporary light blocking shades Actually, the installation was easy, but the cutting of the shades was anxiety producing. I took the shades to the local home depot store after contacting the manufacturing website who said she was certain Home Depot could cut the shades for me. Home Depot could not cut the shades because they do not have a machine that can cut through the plastic. As it turned out, I was able to cut them with a utility knife, but I cut 2 of them a little too narrow. I suggest you cut them to the exact measurement of the inside of the window at its narrowest width. Good Luck!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the best value for price The price of this temporary shade does not reflect the quality. The lift operation does not; always move evenly or completely while the lowering operation requires a significant pull pressure which caused one of the blinds I purchased to partially come off the adhesive attached placement. You must operated with slow extreme care and as other mentioned use both hands. Hopefully it will last a while. The room darkening feature does work appropriately.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from i was looking for something that didn't need holes made, these fit the bill I can't say anything about the long term lasting of the product. The shade was easy to adjust and install, utility knife and tape measure were all that was needed.Item looks good. I have a slight problem with the evenness it's a little difficult to get them straight when opening and closing. I used two shades for my large sliding window.
