Class III 2 in. Drop Security Kit is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy duty This hitch was attached to my Ford pick-up. Heavy duty construction. The locking pin is a nice touch. Never owned a hitch before and this was mostly purchased for "decking out" the truck. Can be mounted up or down. I may have to drill a second hole in the hitch so I can push it closer to the bumper. States it has a six thousand pound towing capacity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid secure tow ball This is a very solid and secure tow ball. I'm using this on a Subaru Outback towing a light utility trailer or our tent trailer (approximately 1900 pounds). This security drop kit is easy to install and the covered locking mechanism seems well secured against road dirt and moisture. Our old tow ball on our Odyssey minivan had a little bit of play which made towing feel a little insecure (although we never had an incident in 15 years). This setup feels a lot tighter and more solid and I appreciate the lock, which allows me to leave the tow ball in at all times without worry of theft.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is a heavy tow ball and bar. It looks good and works well. It fits a 2” receiver and has a locking bolt. The locking bolt seems to be more of a deterrent as it’s not going to stop a determined thief. However, it should be enough to make them work at it. Depending on the tow-bar on the vehicle and what else is around (wiring plug), it can be a little challenging to get the key into the lock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it I really needed to get this so finally saw this and went for it. It all comes assembled. Installed it on my 2014 GMC Terrain. Works out great. So far appears to be holding up pretty well to weather. I like having the security pin and lock that come with it. Saves you from have go buy either one of them. The key comes with the lock. Easy to install'

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good affordable hitch with peace of mind from casual theft This is a basic, affordable hitch. It’s my second Reese – a family-owned company that’s been making these products for a very long time. No complaints, really. Yeah the chrome parts will eventually rust a little, but so does anything not costing more and maid from stainless. Powder coating is another trick to prevent rust (versus building from stainless). It’s typically thick and very hard, thus providing a long life of service. Sometimes you’ll get edges or corners knocked off where rust can start, but this hitch would last as long as your vehicle, IMO. I’ve had one on my Ford for the past four years and it’s just fine – only list surface rust so far. Honestly, I don’t usually use the lock. I have no lock on my trailer clamp, so what’s the point? But if you’re more protective and are looking for a way to prevent casual theft, this is a quick win. I assume that an experienced thief would have no trouble with this lock, but that’s just my guess. All Class II hitches are rated for 6000 lbs towing and 600 lbs tongue weight. I rated this as 4 stars not because of any defects, but because it’s as good as any kit not including a stainless lock and ball and I left room for one with stainless.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nobody knows trailer hitch equipment better than Reese! I purchased this Class III 2 in. Drop Security Kit for my SUV to use with trailers. I couldn't be happier. The item was ordered, shipped securely, and well packaged. The package includes the hitch bar, a 2 inch ball, the security hitch pin, and two keys. Upon opening the item has the ball already attached to the hitch bar. Reese has incorporated a new design into the bar, in that the ball has a hexagon base that locks into the bar. This allows the user to tighten or loosen the bar with a simple wrench or socket. No more fighting to hold the ball while you tighten or loosen. The hitch pin is solid and has an "O" ring near the locking mechanism to prevent water and debris from entering the lock at the base. On the key side, there is a rubber cap that protects the key slot from water and debris. Using the key simply opens the mechanism and the lock comes off the pin. Insert or remove from the hitch and you are in business. Two keys are provided which is a nice feature. The hitch comes with a 2 inch ball, but can easily be updated to a larger size provided by Reese or another brand ball. Another nice feature is that Reese used easily removable labels that leave no glue residue. I am totally thrilled with this item! If you are in need of a Class III receive hitch ball assembly, this security package fits the bill nicely. I highly recommend this product!
