We experienced very little difference after the installation of this product on our west facing Texas garage door. My husband is very handy so I know he installed it correctly. He is very particular too (which may explain why it took longer than I thought it should to install). Good thing we only invested about $60. Would I do it again? No.

I decided to install this material according to manufacturer recommendations in an enclosed section of a cabin I am building to warm things up a bit until i put in the full course insulation. I installed this by stapling to width between the stud walls and trusses. The exterior at this point is the James Hardie fiber cement boards over 15# felt as vapor barrier. Interior does not have any drywall or paneling yet. My gut feel that this was extremely easy to install paid off and I had some insulation inside the 10'x10' enclosed working area in half a day using nothing but staples and a utility knife to cut to length.
Now here comes the surprising part. Before adding the insulation, my little Mr. Heater portable buddy set to low heat could keep a seven degree Fahrenheit warmer interior. I was happy with that as it was but then after I installed this insulation, the same heater on the same setting could maintain a 20 degree Fahrenheit warmer interior! (I use an exterior/interior digital thermometer while I work)
It was well worth the price and the value, knowing that when I begin adding the rigid wall insulation my initial quick fix will also add to the overall R value of the walls and also help keep things cool inside during the summer!
I plan to use this over the rest of the building project too given the economic value and improved heat retention.

I wrap my kettle with reflectix during the mash and it really helps maintain the mash temperature. I lose about 1 F during the summer and 2 F during the winter.

I love this stuff. I have 2 shops ( metal and wood) in outside buildings. I used this insulation because it both insulates, and reflects light / heat. The result is a well lit shop, that stays warm with just a small space heater. I wish it cost a little less, but I still think it's a good value. Be sure to get the Reflectix silver tape to seal the joints, or any holes.

We recently purchased and assembled a wood hot tub. It is located outside and exposed to our harsh midwestern winter where the temperatures often dip below zero for extended periods. I knew that the system had freeze protection but wanted to ensure that I would not be up nights worrying about frozen pipes. I looked into the foam type pipe insulation but found it difficult to work with and it was rather expensive for the size I needed. I thought that there had to be other options - something that would come in shorter lengths, was more flexible than the typical 5/8" thick foam pipe insulation and was easy to configure around the various pipe fittings.
For awhile now I had been thinking of using Reflectix to insulate my workshop. It occured to me that this product might work well to insulate the hot tub piping so I ordered one 25' roll. It arrived late one day with the outside temps hovering around zero and I could not wait to try it out. Cutting it in short lengths, I used duct tape (which had to be warmed up in order to get it to stick) to fasten the short lengths to the pvc and then wrapping the insulation around the pipe securing the insulation with another piece of duct tape. The pvc fittings were just as easy cutting shorter lengths of insulation, turning them 90 degrees and then some more duct tape.
The next morning the outside temperature was ten below but poking my fingers under the insulation on the pipes showed that the Reflectix worked perfect as I could feel that the pipes were very warm, warmer than without the insulation. An additional benefit is that the water looses little of the heat when it runs from the heater to the tub.
This is a great product that could have a multitude of uses.

I used it as insulation for a radiant floor, installing it over concrete, the radiant floor and tile over it. Big mistake! The insulation is comprised of air pockets that are extremely flexible. The tiles slightly move when you walk on it popping the grout but fortunately not enough to pop the thinset. I waited about a week to let what was going to break to do so, and then re-grouted using same color caulk to allow for the flex. This saved the radiant floor and the tile but I'll have to live with the slight flex until next remodel. In hind sight, the insulation is not necessary as heat will follow the path of least resistance, even over concrete, and will flow upward through your tile.

The name indicates that there is a staple tab. It was not there unless it is just extra width. I used this with staple-up radiant floor heat between I-joists on 16 inch centers. There was enough width to push the insulation in place and it stayed without stapling, so I didn't need the staple tabs anyway. I wanted 100 foot rolls, but they were not available at the store. So I settled for 25 foot rolls and I'm glad I did. They were easy to maneuver.

Love this product did just what I wanted . We purchased an older home recently and discovered that there was no insulation in the exterior wall where the cupboard hangs. Icy air blew in. So this product did the trick. Was very easy to use and stopped the cold air from coming in. It also took up very little room. Which it was what I was looking for. I could cut it with scissors and install behind my dishes very easily. Works great and is so much warmer.
