Product Overview

The Reliance Controls Sump Pump Alarm is conveniently battery powered and mounts easily to either a wall using included hardware or to a non-porous surface such as a wash tub, bathtub or tile floor via suction cup mount. Answer:
The instructions say yes. I'm sure there is a distance limit, but being that's its driven with a 9 volt battery and the probe is attached by copper wire, you shouldn't have a problem. Its easy to test, just splice it in and tongue test the probe or use a cup of water.

Answer:
No reason you shouldn't be able to do so. Would recommend soldering them and shrink tube due to the location it will be located in!

I installed a sewage lift station wiith a Flotec pump I got at Home Depot. I agree that it is cost effective, if it will work in this application.

Answer:
Mine corroded the detection end in a few months. I am going ot try a different brand, but a float type may be the best, especially if you still have the lid off the pit.

Answer:
This will work great as long as there is a place to run the sensor wire into the lift station. You will want the sensor on the inside and the alarm on the outside.

Answer:
As soon as both probes touch the same body of water, it will do off. So stick it on your tongue, spit on it..whatever, it will go off. Also stops as soon as it is removed from the body of water.
Keep in mind, this won't work in distilled water, but who monitors the level of distilled water anyway?

Answer:
If the water sensor is laying on the floor a puddle would have to be about 1/16 inch deep to activate the alarm. If you are using this as a sump pump alarm the sensor can be hung over the side of the reservoir so that the alarm is activated before the water over flows.

No, the 9-volt adapter must have a 1/8" male plug that is tip positive, 200mA or more.

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 19 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by looking for another like many others posted, I installed the alarm in my sump, the water level is fine but the alarm was triggered. After many ways of trying to dry it out (had gotten splashed on in the sump) it won't shut off. Waste of $15. March 29, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Failed in less than 30 days Failed in less than 30 days, alarms constantly. Bummer December 29, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Short-lived Worked great for about 2 months. I tested it and it seemed loud enough, and worked very well. I hung it about 6" from the top of my sewage ejection pump pit, and after about two months our power went out and the water level got high enough to set it off. Worked great! problem is.... It would never shut off again. I dried it out for a few days, but noticed the sensor had corroded enough that it just wouldn't work anymore. I read another review that said the same thing... the thing would just never shut off after drying it out. I am going to try a different type from Home Depot. Hopefully it lasts longer. June 28, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just what I was looking for I wanted a water alarm that I could lower part way into a sump crock - I want to know when the water level is high, but not overflowing. Other alarms are for a flat surface, at which point the water would've already overflowed. However, with the wire on this unit, I can put it down about 2" from the top of the crock and be warned prior to overflow, so that I can take corrective action before a problem occurs. Battery is easy to install, alarm is sufficiently loud. July 21, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by It works It works. It was delivered in a reasonable time. They keep bugging me for this review. July 7, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Worked for a few weeks, then went off continuously. I put this alarm in a dry spot inside my sump. It seemed to work for a few weeks, then this morning I heard the alarm going off. The sump pump is working fine, so I pulled the probe up from the hole where it floats above the normal water level. The probe was completely dry and yet the alarm still continued. I tried swapping batteries, and even brought it inside into the air conditioning thinking maybe the high humidity in the hole caused it, but the alarm does not ever shut off. I'm going to try to order another one and see if maybe this unit in particular was just faulty. October 13, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sump pump alarm Not only was the on line purchase process and in store pickup process flawless, but the product was exactly what I needed. November 11, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Took it back The unit was indeed loud enough to hear upstairs. Seemed to work good for one week and then the alarm went off and I got very nervous thinking I was about to have water problems. Turned out the water wasn't even touching the contacts. Even after cleaning the contacts the alarm still sounded. Going to install a water operated back up pump and be on the safe side. May 20, 2014
