You have to loosen the bar that the chain rides on and then remove and replace the chain. Before you tighten the bar back down turn the adjusting screw u til your have about 1/2 inch slack in the chain. Tighten the bar back down and your ready to go.

14 in. 42cc 2-Cycle Gas Chainsaw is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for homeowner This is a great small chainsaw for a quality manufacture, was easy to set up and started right up I use premixed gas so did not use the shipped with saw oil for mixing with the gas, just had to install the chain oil that was also shipped with the chain saw. So anyone can use can and mix your own or like I do buy premixed 50/1 gas. Guess if used the saw all the time would mix my own. Use this one for trimming off branch's on felled trees as is not as heavy as my larger units and gives them a break while I trim the branch's before cutting burning size logs. Starts easy and runs great so sure will be an outstanding saw

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Remington 14'' gas chainsaw I have never owned a chainsaw so I chose this small 14'' unit to try. Setup took about ten minutes and I used some ready to use premixed gas that I use for my gas weedwacker. It took about three pulls to get this little guy purring and I was off and running. My first job was to cut some stumps of some shrubs that I had cut down earlier this spring. I needed to cut them down to ground level and this little guy cut through them without a hitch. This unit has pretty good power for its size. I did have to adjust the chain on my next use but that was easy enough. This is a decent budget chainsaw for smaller jobs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have to give this little chainsaw five stars. I have to give this little chainsaw five stars. This chainsaw is just awesome....perfect for a homeowner that isn't cutting down a ton of large trees. Starts pretty easily...and has the directions next to the pull rope. Took me about 10 minutes to set it all up. Filled it with bar oil and 50 to 1 fuel and it started on the third pull. For a small cc engine it seems to have a ton of pep. It cut through 12 and 14 inch pieces of seasoned oak like a hot knife through butter. I was totally surprised at how well this little 42 cc saw worked. Very impressed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cuts like a champ... This has got to be one of the best chain saws that i have ever owned. On the first start up, it was as easy as 1-2-3 and it fired right up out of the box. very impressive. Compact design helps in easier handling. Very easy to use and has lots of power for it's size. 42cc 2cycle gas. No worries with this one. feels like it is made to last for years. very nice comfort feel when holding it. not to much vibration either. Im impressed and i think you will be too.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's your choice This RM4214 Rebel Gas Chainsaw has a lot going for it. It's easy to start, light weight, highly maneuverable, and cuts through small to medium sized branches like a hot knife through butter! It's all good until it's shut off and left to sit for a day or more. The bar and chain oil drains out and makes a mess. The manufacturer was contacted . The response was the saw has an automatic oil drip to keep the chain oiled. It does not shut off and continues to drip when the saw is shut off so the chain and bar oil must be emptied after each use to avoid a big mess. My husband has worked with chainsaws for a lot of years and he has never come across one that has to have it's bar and chain oil emptied after each use. So I guess it's up to the customer whether or not the good things about this little chainsaw outweigh the extra work and mess. For us, not so much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Little Gas Chain Saw This is a great little gas chain saw that has great power and gets into small places. I own two electric chain saws which are bigger 18" and 24" and this 14" chain saw gives just as much power if not more. It was very easy to assemble put on the chain, add gas and pour in the mix 50/1 oil that comes with the gas chain saw. I am a petite person and the weight of this gas chain saw is easy for me to handle. This is my go to chain saw and no more lugging around an extension cord. I have a lot of dead branches on trees that I need to cut off and now I can handle this myself with this gas chain saw. I have already cut up down branches from this winter and it cut them up with no problems. I also have had no kick back from the saw which I do get now and then using my electric chain saw. If you are a homeowner this 14" gas chain saw is a must have and I am so glad that I got it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use This saw came packed well with simple to use instructions. I took the saw out of the box, added the appropriate fluids as instructed and was ready to try it out. After priming the saw it fired on the 2nd pull. The fourteen inch bar and chain was more than ample for me. I had no problem with my trees and limbs. There was very little kick back and the saw had plenty of power.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact But Pwerful I used this 14", 42cc, 2-cycle Remington Chainsaw to cut down a thin, dead eucalyptus tree and also to trim off some dead branches on a couple of other eucalyptus trees. The bar and chain oil was included with the chainsaw and I already had the gas on hand so, all I had to do was read the very thorough, but simple and clear instructions and fire it up. It has a very simple start up process and it started immediately. It is so much lighter weight and easier to maneuver than my big, full-size chainsaw. It was able to get into tight places between limbs and cut through the very hard, dense eucalyptus wood easily. It has a lot of power for a smaller chainsaw and because it is so well balanced, it is easy on the muscles, arms and back. I did not notice any vibration at all, probably because it has an "anti-vibration system that absorbs vibration to reduce fatigue". I had the dead tree and branches down and cut into logs within a half hour. I am very impressed with the power of this chainsaw and think it is a very well made, high quality tool. I will be using it for all my smaller jobs instead of getting the bigger chainsaw out. I do wish that it had a case, but I am very satisfied with its performance.
