Hello Allan. The correct 16 inch chain replacement part number is 713-05041 and the 16 inch guide bar is part number 753-08243. These part numbers are based specifically on the model number of the 16 in. 42cc 2-Cycle Gas Chainsaw. Thank you for your question.

Saw worked great, just let the saw do its job and don't force it, easy start when both cold and after warmed up. Had to tighten the chain a number of times (that was easy as well) but that's to be expected and surprisingly made it through the tree using only one chain. Used the premixed fuel that was purchased at HD as well to avoid any issues. For the money with a 30 day return and 2 year warranty its a really good buy.

I'm giving this saw 3 stars because I've only had it a couple of weeks and used it once. Needed to use it more but after a 6" limb (10 to 12 cuts) the blade became too dull to cut any more, it only burnt the wood after that. Otherwise it started right up and handled pretty good. When you purchase this saw, go ahead and buy a good (Oregon) blade, you'll need it.

I reckon the worst thing I read in the reviews was regarding the weight. But, since it's 42cc I figured, hey, extra engine, more weight, probably more power. Right? NYET!! Thing bogs down with minimal pressure and I ain't been cuttin' mahogany or oak. Simple pines and firs. Mind you, I've only used it twice for, perhaps, a total of 20 minutes. Because when I went to tighten the chain, the adjusting screw turned as though it was stripped. You could hear the gears clicking but nothing moved. Then it quit turning altogether. I had purchased a warranty from The Home Depot, figuring (gotta stop doing that with retail endeavors) I MIGHT get better results than with MTD. NYET!! THD warranty doesn't kick in until manufacturer warranty expires next year (which, in my conversations, or lack thereof, with MTD, may be something to consider)! One of those fine print things. Anyway, save your money! Get a Stihl. An Echo even. Geez, I had a Poulan that was better than this......thing. Good luck!

I read all the instructions before trying to start. I followed the start up instructions, and it started right up, no problems. I mainly used it for pruning some trees. I was cutting branches up to 6 inches thick. It cut right through them. Starting back up after, was easy. 1 pull and it started up. I did notice if I let it cool off for 20 minutes or so, I had to use the beginning start up instructions. I have been using it off and on for 3 weeks, and no problems. Just remember to check the chain for proper tightness. I would recommend this chain saw to the average user. Having the carrying case is great.

Update on adjustment problem..... As advised. took saw to suggested repair shop. He has not done warranty repair in 2 years. But he graciously (this is how CS is supposed to work) checked it out. Screw is bent. Parts only available as unit including chain break, etc. Cost is $15. Repairing it myself as CS via distributor is bogus.
