Use a tool to clear the recess area, never your finger or hand. And unplug the saw before any maintained work
I hope this helps

there is a button on top that you have to push. it appears as if it's not self- lubricating which is odd because it appears that there is no way to lubricate it when it's mounted on the extension pole.

It has an automatic oiler, not real keen on how it works though. I may have clogged where oil comes out though as I was cutting branches directly above me in a truck.

You can disconnect the chain saw from the pole and make it whatever the length of the saw is, say 2'. With the pole attached and retracted all the way in I would say it was approx. 6' high.

I purchased this saw and a Ryobi 16" electric chainsaw to cut down several trees when I bought my current house. I used this saw far more often than I did the Ryobi because the Remington is a monster. It eats through trees like a hot knife through butter. It's an awesome little chainsaw that I have beaten and abused, yet it's still as awesome as the day I opened the box. Have had one for ten years now and still love it. Read Less

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed user. Remington is powerful. Very light it reaches higher than most pole saws. The saw chain design is poor though. It takes in too many chips and small branches during operation that it makes it impossible to keep it running smoothly for a long time. After a few uses over one weekend my Remmington pole saw locked up on me and I had to return it. I exchanged it for a Ryobi 9' - 6A. It works miracles. July 5, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Electric Pole saw/Chainsaw Combo Good purchase for the money and performs well. Would have been great had it come with some Bar and Chain Oil in the box. July 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by It's what I needed It worked great for trimming of my tree helped it look cleaner taking off overlapped branches it was doing wonders for us untill the chain fell off we attempted to put it back on but yet have to see if it works the same as it once did. July 9, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by It will do the job I read the reviews before purchasing so I knew the pros and cons. It is hard to see what your cutting overhead and it is harder to handle than I thought. However, it did work. June 29, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good Product Idea I would give 4 or 5 stars if the chain didn't loosen and was unable to tighten after the second use. It is a great idea and works great. It was able to use right out of the box(with bar and chain oil added), but the 2nd time I used the chainsaw, the chain became loose. After following the instructions on tightening and not getting any results, I opened the saw to find a defective latching piece that had bent already. The Home Depot in West Reno was great about returning and re-purchasing the same item as I do love the versatility of the chain/pole saw. I hope it works better this time, just make sure to not cut branches larger than the chain saw's bar. May 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Pole Saw This seems to be a quality product and worth the extra couple of dollars over the no-name competition. just using it for half a day I was glad I spent the extra $10 dollars or so. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pole Saw I found it to be a good product. I have only used it once and it worked great. June 24, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Did not work correctly. The saw by itself worked fine. Saw did not work when attached to the extension handle. Item returned. June 24, 2016
