Do the drive and auger handles have a lock-out feature so you can let go of one to turn the chute crank?
Asked by: Andy
Hello - Yes, you can release the Auger control to adjust the chute as long as the self propelled lever stays depressed. Thank you for your question.

How many horsepower does the RM3060 have?

Asked by: Steve
The manufacturers won't list specific HP ratings anymore, but at 357cc this engine is roughly 12-13hp. It's one of the most powerful consumer level snow blowers you can buy.

Does the RM3060 have a battery, and pull start?

I'm wondering if I shutdown the machine at the end of the driveway for any reason, I might need to push this heavy thing back to the house to plug in and start again. Would I be able to do a manual start without electric plug?
Asked by: King
Yes, I always use the pull start to start mine. One to two pulls maximum and it fires right up!

Does it have a fuel shutoff?

Asked by: Grumpy
There is no valve in between the fuel tank and the carb. The engine speed switch has a "Stop" position which chokes the carb from fuel and shuts the engine off.

RM3060 30 in. 357cc 2-Stage Electric Start Gas Snow Blower is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product for the price I upgraded to this model from a 30 year old Bowlens. The build quality of any new snowblower doesn't compare to the heavy duty steel construction of a 30 year old model. But the build quality of this snowblower is on par with any other new snowblower that I looked at. The Remy was shipped to my house and was well packaged. Assembly took about 10 minutes. You just need to lift the handle and tighten the handle and attach the chute and chute crank arm. There was already oil in the engine. Add some gas and fire it up. It started right away. The engine is MUCH quieter than my old Tecumseh engine. At 357cc (~13hp) the engine is beastly and torquey. I have used it several times and it chews through the snow with ease. It shoots the snow about 10 - 30 feet depending on snow consistency (much farther and more accurate than my old Bowlens). This model is made by MTD and is an exact copy of other models that can be purchased under the names of Toro, Troy Built, Craftsmen etc. I liked this unit because it was no frills - no hand warmers, no electronic chute control, etc which can add hundreds of dollars to the overall cost and is just another potential problem waiting to happen. Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase and feel confident it will handle anything that upstate NY snow storms throw at me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 1st snow fall Eats up the snow . 1st speed is to fast but you will get used to it . The 1st reverse gear is to slow. All of the other gears are to fast to be useful , unless you jog I could hardly keep up with 2nd so I gave up. Did I say it blows snow and how! ( first use first impression)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Snow Removal Machine Purchased new and had first use last night in a Michigan blizzard. Came in large reinforced box on a pallet. Unpackaged, it took less than 10 minutes to assemble. The manual says it does not have oil in it, but mine did. The gas tank smelled of gas residuals, so the engine must be tested at some point before it is shipped. This machine has 6 separate metal auger pieces that comprise the auger assembly. It was easy to start, much like other MTD engines and roared to life with a nice light featured on the front. It was able to move snow and throw it far. Tends to ride up on pack snow a little, so effort to push the front end down saves needing a second pass. I'm told other machines of the same size have the same issues (Husqvarna, Cub Cadet). Only complaint I have is that releasing the auger lever tended to stick and make some unclutching grinding noise on occasion. Also, to get maximum throw distance you need to fill the throat of the auger with snow - i.e. if there is not much snow, you need to go at a faster speed to fill the auger up to get the full throw distance. I like having a light, the shoot is geared to move rapidly so you only need to crank the shoot lever a couple times for full rotation left to right. Tires are large with great traction on ice or snow. The machine is more bulky than a 24" model for obvious reasons and it takes less time for me to clear out the driveway with this unit than my 24". It uses more fuel in doing so, but the tank is also larger than my 24", and as such I find that I get roughly the same amount of run time from full to empty. I wish that the shoot did not curve so aggressively as I bought this machine hoping I could throw the snow OVER the 8' snowbanks at the end of the driveway. I fear as the drifts get above 6', I will again be throwing the snow INTO the side of the bank as I get closer to it rather than over it. Never heard of a Remington snowblower - but this machine is obviously the same as other machines in its class using the same 357cc engine, probably made in the same factories, with a different paint job and label. Still, it is all the machine I'm going to need for awhile and as for first impressions, I like it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Time's a Charm Just baptised this one with the NE blizzard, drifts of 30in plus had to be broken down but were done so with no isses. Throwing power is impressive, 20-30ft easy. The tranny is powerful, gear 1 was fast enough to slice throw 20+ inches. I ran it for 5+ hours straight on 1.5gal of gas and was impressed. Didn't miss my old Craftsman at all. It's a beast for sure.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good blower Started easily and will throw snow. It was very good with the light snow and handled the slush fairly well. I would buy this snow blower again.

The crate arrived looking pretty beat-up with some oil even appearing from somewhere. I examined the snowblower before accepting it and could see no damage or oil leaks anywhere, so I accepted the delivery. It was missing the chute crank shaft and handle, but MTD customer service was fast and responsive in getting the missing parts out. After I had all the pieces, we had a storm drop about 18 inches of heavy, wet snow and it was able to handle it easily, including the large snowplow mound at the end of the driveway. The large engine and the wide clearing width make this a powerful beast in heavy or deep snow. The snowblower feels sturdy enough and with proper maintenance I feel it will last a long time. I was worried about not having the turning triggers, but found that turning wasn't hard - snow under the machine helps it turn fairly easily. I would buy this again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just in Time for the 2016 Blizzard Bought a new home on Long Island NY in July 2015 with a large circular driveway and large car parking area. Figured I would need a larger than 24 inch snowblower to get the job done. Looked at the Home Depot selections in October of 2015 and saw the Remington 30 inch blower with the larger engine and reasoned that was the one that would fit my needs. Fast forward to Jan 2016 and the blizzard that dropped almost two feet on snow on Long Island. Gassed up the snowblower and it started up on the first pull. No need to use the electric start.. It did a wonderful job of clearing the snow. Plenty of power to clear the Plow Drift at the entrance of the driveway. Very happy with the machine and would recommend it to anyone. Only drawback is it does not have the auto steering of other larger machines but can still be controlled with a minimum of effort.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Snow Thrower I bought this product after the big snow in Louisville KY I know when I say big its not Boston Big but 16 inches of snow on 3 different occasions in Louisville is big for us. I received my order when Home Depot said they would deliver it and it came in a crate there was no damage and everything was handled very well thru home depot and the truck driver. Cannot say how it runs because I bought this as an if it snows again item I will be ready. No more back breaking shoveling. I really hope I never have to put gas in it, so as far as answering questions on how it runs check back with me on the next snow fall in Louisville. I gave all good ratings because My neighbor has the same exact machine in which I borrowed and worked great.
