Customer Questions & Answers

Tilt of solar panel

I see some models have a solar panel which can tilt up or down while others make it look like the panel is at a fixed angle. Does the 20 watt, 1280 CFM solar panel have an adjustable tilt?

will this also cool the garage that has a partial flooring

I have a 1850 sf patio home - single level. Will this also help cool the 2 car garage that has a partial floor in the attic
Asked by: Ron
It also will col the garage if there is not rated wall between the house Most homes built after the 1960's have a rated wall separating the two different uses - R3 (living area) and U (garage) because of the fire hazard with the vehicle fuel tank/fumes

How do you shut the fan off in the winter time?

I live in OHIO and would think I wouldn't need it running in the winter. If its solar and comes on right away, how do you shut it off?
Asked by: Rick
It will only kick on when the attic reaches a certain temperature.

20-Watt 1280 CFM Black Solar Powered Attic Fan is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 48.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cooler attic When I first saw this product on line I was skeptical of the price. It is a lot to pay for an attic fan but I ventured to still buy it. I had it installed on a new construction home. It works during the day in the sunlight but needs an converter/adapter (about $80) to run it at night. I have purchased the converter to run in during the heat of the summer. The unit is attractive and streamlined and blends more with the roof. Unlike those hideous whirlybirds. I am happy with the unit so far. I gave it four stars which is very good in my opinion and the price is a little high but in the long run will be worth the investment. I think the converter should be included with the fan without raising the price. That probbly would have gotten the fifth star.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing product- Starting working immediately! Amazing product. Attic was typically 112*F to 120*F. Put two gable vents in last year but the passive venting didn't do much. Did a lot of research and then bought this Remington. I'm not a contractor but my neighbor and I installed it in 30 minutes (after watching the video on YouTube.) Checked the temp later in the day and it was 94*F! Fluctuates depending on the temperature outside (We live in south Florida). The fan came on as soon as we took the cover off and pointed it up to the sun! With temp outside at 92*F the attic was only 102*F! Major difference. Critics of attic fans worry about pulling the cool air from inside your house but if you have decent insulation and some gable/roof vents it will just pull the hot air out of your attic and lower the temperature 10-20*F Would have liked the solar fan to not cost $365 but I'm confident it will save me money every month, not to mention lengthen the life of my air conditioner and my shingles. Somewhat disappointed in Home Depot as they said they did not have anyone who could install it for me. Overall very satisfied with the product. Can't imagine having a home in the southern US without one!

Easy to install, light- it is aluminum, and best of all is that it even works in a low light environment. It is a small unit and I plan to buy another unit to be more effective. I am using them in a greenhouse just for air circulation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well Installation was easy and and the DC motor truly pulls the hot air out of the attic. Time will tell whether the exhaust fan was a good investment.
